The United States Air Force has a rich history in Taylorville, Illinois. The USAF was founded on February 14th, 1947 by President Harry S. Truman as the American Air Forces in order to provide air support for Operation Overlord. In 1949, the USAF became the United States Air Force Reserve and currently operates as an independent service with over 100,000 active duty and reserve members. The USAF is responsible for providing global air superiority and conducting numerous airstrikes throughout the world. The first planes used by the USAF were Boeing 707s donated by Boeing Aircraft Company. From these planes, pilots flew missions into hostile airspace to strategic bombing raids against Nazi Germany and other Axis powers during World War II. During the Cold War era, the USAF operated numerous jets such as F-4 Phantom aircraft and A-12 Avenger bombers that carried out aerial campaigns against North Korea, Cuba, Yugoslavia and Iraq. Today’s Air Force provides global air defense capabilities through various wings including 512 Combat Crew Training Squadron (CCTS), 379 Expeditionary Wing (EW), 511 Intelligence Wing (IW) and 445 Tactical Airlift Wing (TAW). In addition to hosting many annual events such as The Races of America or Demonstrations of Flight at Edwards AFB, Taylorville is also home to one of America’s largest military paradegrounds which can accommodate up to 12 million spectators per year! Taylorville is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,044 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Taylorville was John Haggerty, who arrived in 1818. In 1838, David Dudley bought land here and built a gristmill on the current site of Algonquin College. He named his mill "Dudley's Mill" after himself and his brother-in-law, David Dudley Sr.. The mill continued operation until it burned down in 1863. In 1865, William Atherton founded the Atherton Foundry which manufactured cannons for the Union army during the American Civil War. After the war, Atherton became president of Armour & Co., one of Chicago's largest mercantile firms. He also donated land to build Holy Cross Seminary (now Algonquin College) on this same site in 1869. In 1893–94, local farmers developed two small towns called Sycamore and Taylorville around their new cotton plantations: Sycamore because of its sycamores trees that grew near the Clintons' plantation; and Taylorville because many residents thought it would be more convenient to get around by horse or buggy than by walking or riding bicycles (). The towns were incorporated as villages in 1895 but declined in popularity after World War I when transportation improvements made by Cook County led to increased commuting to larger cities withoutvillages nearby. However, they soon regained popularity due to their close proximity to large shopping malls and other municipalities with populations over 100 thousand people such as Westchester County (which includes Princeton), Lake Forest Park/Rochester Hills/Hoffman Estates/Lake Zurich etc.). On December 1st 2009 Mayor Michael Antonin announced that all original village businesses will shut down effective January 1st 2010 due to budget cuts and declining traffic levels within village boundaries

Taylorville was founded in 1825 by John Taylor and his wife Cynthia. The town grew rapidly due to the success of its trade routes connecting the Illinois plains with Indiana and Michigan. In 1852, the town had a population of over 1,500 people. After years of growth, the town reached its peak in 1870 when it had a population of 3,000 people. However, during the American Civil War, Taylorville experienced significant destruction and loss of life as a result of battlefronts within its limits. By 1865, most of the buildings in the town were destroyed or damaged by fire. As a result, only about 50% of what once existed in Taylorville remains today. In 1903-1904, construction began on what is now known as Memorial Hall which was dedicated to honor those who lost their lives in World War I. The hall is one of only two remaining structures from that time period in downtown Taylorville. Additionally, between 1907 and 1911, work began on what is now known as Court House Square which was also dedicated to honor those who lost their lives during World War I and World War II. The square remained unfinished until 1971 when it was completely renovated and renamed Park Square following plans submitted by then Mayor Eileen O’Neill. By 1922-1923, construction had resumed on North Park Road which would eventually become Interstate 84 while Market Street became State Route 51A (today's US Highway 12). In 1928-1929 (known as "The Great Chicago Earthquake"), an earthquake struck eastern Illinois causing extensive damage throughout central and southern Illinois including parts of Taylorville including both Court House Square and North Park Road where much property damage occurred including churches and schools being leveled into ruins along with many homes having collapsed within them from the shaking caused by temblors alone rather than from any earthquakes that preceded or followed it directly. Following this event (and related events such as later tornadoes), business activities slowed down for several years before picking up again sometime around 1933 when local farmers started planting corn anew after having stopped doing so during prior stock market crashes throughout America due to concerns about potential famine shouldearthquake fatalities occur disproportionately among foodProduction workers specifically women & children involvedin crop production thereby exacerbating social tensions resultingin increased violence against innocent bystanders & perpetrators alikeduring natural disasters). At first even some locals chuckled at suggestions that they might try growing anything new amidst rampant fearmongering ie.: "If you can't handle it here - move away". Taylorville is located in Kane County, Illinois. The village was founded in 1814 by Methodist missionaries. It grew rapidly during the 19th century due to its location at the edge of a valuable mining district and its accessibility to transportation. In 1879, the legislature changed the name of the town to honor James Taylor, an early settler and one of the organizers of the Illinois Central Railroad.
