The beans were ground into coarser than average chunks and brewed with water that was also used for irrigation and farming. Coffee was enjoyed by both men and women for its bitter flavor and stimulating effects. Coffee first became popularized in America during the Revolutionary War. Soldiers needed a source of energy to stay awake during long deployments and combat. Coffee became an important part of their diet because it lacked sugar which could give soldiers headaches or cause sugar cravings later in life. After the Revolution, coffee-growing regions throughout America flourished as new investors poured money into the industry. In 1824, John Brown founded what is now known as Peet's Coffee Company in Lexington, Kentucky; this company manufactured cigarettes using roasted beans from his farmhouse estateGuarana (now Krakow). During World War II, coffee became an important fuel source for Allied forces due to its versatile properties: It could be used as a morning pick-me-up or evening snack; it didn't require hot water to roast; it had low acidity levels; and it wasn't addictive like tobacco cigarettes were. Coffee also helped keep troops alert on long deployments by providing them with a MORA (motor vehicles operating on oil) alternative to alcohol beverages such as whisky or gin. In the early 1920s, The Dutch Bros. became one of the first companies to sell ground coffee through a pre-packaged product called "Cup of Joe." In 1951, The Dutch Bros.' sons and daughters founded their own company, The Summit Coffee Co., which remains an independent business today. Over time, other local businesses also joined forces to form a cooperative brewing system known as the "Summit Roasters." During the late 1960s and 1970s, Summit's economy underwent a dramatic transformation as local manufacturing jobs disappeared and retail sales plummeted. However, during this time period, Summits' coffee industry remained strong and continues to operate successfully today.
Summit is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name "Summit" comes from nearby Mount Zion Baptist Church which was founded in 1852 by Rev. John Burt and his wife Jane Harding Young. In 1875, Summit's first post office opened with nine mailboxes and six inhabitants. The first school in Summit was built on what is now Elm Street in 1865 by Revs. Jethro Henschel and James Worthyman Jr.. In 1910, an act of Congress approved a plat for the village of Summit Township that would include all of present-day Cook County as well as parts of Aurora and Park Ridge to the east and north respectively. On December 1, 1910, Summit became one of 108 villages within Cook County when it merged with Rockford Township to form the newly createdCook County.[2] On December 5th, 1922 Washington Mutual Insurance Company moved their corporate headquarters from New York City to Chicago after acquiring $300 million worth of assets in two transactions totaling $24 billion USD (the largest insurance company merger at that time).[3] Their successor Chase Manhattan Bank moved into their old building on North Michigan Avenue just south of State Street on October 24th, 1989 before being replaced by One North Business Tower on May 14th, 1997[4]. JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s new headquarter will be located at 100 Wacker Drive across from McCormick Place until 2020 when they will move into a new tower across the street from Field Museum Of Natural History adjacent to Douglas Park . [5][6] Snowbirds fly over Summit daily during wintertime for several reasons including enjoying clear skies without clouds or smoggy conditions; visiting Mount Zion Baptist Church whose old cemetery overlooks downtown; taking pictures or snowboarding near West Side Road/Lake Shore Drive intersection; being close to Edwards Air Force Base (see also: Edwards AFB); or simply looking out over Lake Michigan while sipping hot chocolate at Starbucks

Coffee was also used to make gin rummy and poker games more interesting for American troops fighting abroad during World War II. In 1971, Indonesian President Suharto prohibited espresso from being served at his presidential palace because he thought it would compete with local tea products. However, this decision was overturned two years later when Starbucks opened its first store there. Since then, Starbucks has become Indonesia's most popular coffeeshop chain with more than 2,000 stores throughout the country.

In 1868, Summit was moved to its present location within the Springfield Township limits. The first business in Summit was a grocery store, which opened in 1841. The town's first post office was established in 1840. In 1865, Summit incorporated as a village. In 1970, Summit became an unincorporated community again. In 1881, Congress passed legislation designating the entire area around Springfield as the "Blue Ridge National Forest." This gave rise to the nickname "Blue Ridge" for Summits County because of the high concentration of trees and hills that make up this forest preserve. Over time, Summit has become known as one of America's leading agricultural communities due to its fertile land and well-developed irrigation systems.summit is also home to many cultural attractions including art galleries and museums, as well as several baseball stadiums used by both local and national teams
On July 3, 1871, the first Summit County Fair was held in the town of Mount Prospect.
