The USS Constitution was the first ship of her kind, and is considered one of America’s most important warships. Streator, Illinois is a small town located in McLean County, Illinois. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1833 by Jeremiah and Anna (Shields) Streator. The first store in the town was built on the site of what is now the Streator Civic Center. In 1872, the city of Chicago annexed Streator and its surrounding villages as part of its annexation of Cook County. As a result, Streator merged with neighboring village of Rome to form one municipality with a total population of 15,651 people as of the 2010 census. In October 2013, City Council voted to annex another village called Bloomington into their municipality. This will add an additional 2,047 residents to their municipality's population for a total of 17,567 residents within McLean County as of the 2013 census
