Maga coffee first began flowing into Streator in the early 1800s. The first cafe on the scene was established by Nicholas Maga and his family, who ran a grocery and coffee shop at 5th and State Streets. In 1851, Nicholas’ son John opened an addition to the store, which became known as John Maga Coffee House. In 1865, two brothers named George and Hiram Maga purchased the business from their father. George ran it until his death in 1899; Hiram continued operations until he passed away in 1939. The company name changed to J&J Coffee Company in 1915 after Joseph & Julius Jaffe bought it from George and Hiram Maga. The business operated commercially until 1951 when it closed down due to financial difficulties. The store is still standing, but has been converted into a restaurant called Joe's Cafe over the years.
Streator, Illinois is a small city in the southeast corner of the state of Illinois. The population was 9,812 at the 2010 census. Streator is located on the north side of the state line between Iowa and Minnesota. It is bordered by Wabash River to the east, Dodge City to the south, and Richland County to the west. The first settlement in what is now Streator was made in 1837 when James Averill built a cabin on an island in Wabash River. The town name was derived from "strait" or "channel" leading into Clearwater Lake, which lay to his east. In 1847, a post office called "Creek Rapids" was established in what is now downtown Streator; it remained open until 1907. In 1854, General Lucius Clay ordered Captain John Hays's Union Army to cross the river at Prairie du Chien and enter Chicago as part of their drive against Fort Dearborn; Hays' unit reached Streator on October 12th and destroyed several buildings beforeCanadian forces arrived and drove them off。 In 1865-1866, during Reconstruction following Abraham Lincoln's Ulysses S. Grant administration, several hundred white settlers began moving into portions of Iowa adjoining Illinois; these settlers founded Cedar Rapids (now Cedar Rapids) and other towns within present-day Iowa City Limits while also establishing schools near their villages for black children living within white families’ homes; these efforts are generally considered as precursor's to modern Des Moines.–Streator became officially incorporated as a city on December 15th, 1870.—During World War I (1914-1918), large numbers of American soldiers were stationed here while service members—mainly women—were employed in munitions plants throughout Illinois.; after 1918 many residents moved out or left for various reasons., finally reaching its current size with 8K residents according to2010 Census.—Today there are more than 10K students enrolled at local colleges & universities center campus which includes 3 hospitals including one belonging Toeya Medical Center who ranks 1st among Midwestern University Hospitals.–A variety of professional sports teams call home for players such as football (NFL), basketball (NBA), ice hockey (NHL) etc., making this area an extremely popular tourist destination especially during summertime.; businesses include restaurants/cafés/bars/lawn care services etc., making it an excellent place for locals& visitors alike to enjoy life style without leaving their comfortable city limits

Streator, Illinois was founded in 1814 by Joshua Streator and his wife Elizabeth. The town is located in the southcentral part of the state on the Ohio River. It is named after Joshua's older brother, George Streator. In 1827, the first store was opened in Streator and soon became a local staple for goods brought downriver from Cincinnati. The town grew rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s as more and more people moved to its growing population. By 1851, Streator had a population of over 1,000 residents. In 1857, the first railroad reached Streator, making it an important stop on the Ulysses S Grant Expressway system. During World War II, Streator served as an airfield for American forces during the Battle of Europe.
