Gourmet Coffee has been a part of the Streator community since 1907. The first coffee shop in town was opened by Mr. and Mrs. Capps, who ran the business until it closed in 1912. Gourmet Coffee began as a small family-owned business, with three employees and two cups of coffee per day for their customers. In 1916, Gourmet Coffee purchased its first truck and began to serve its own roast beans direct to consumers from their roasting facility in Williamson Park. From there, they grew into one of the largest and most popular gourmet coffee businesses in Illinois. In 1961, they relocated to their current location on 2nd Street in downtown Streator. In 1984, they opened their second store in Schaumburg, Illinois which became a major tourist attraction for the community during the holiday season. Today, Gourmet Coffee continues to be an important part of the Streator community and provides residents with world-class coffee that is sure to please any palate!

Streator, Illinois is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population was 25,247 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of McLean County. The first settler in what is now Streator was Nicholas Moultrie, who arrived on August 24, 1814 and built a cabin on what is now State Road 1 south of town. By 1820, there were over 30 people living in what would become Streator. In 1850, John Cramer founded the first store in town and by 1860 had two stores and six families living there. By 1870, there were twelve stores and seventy-four families residing hereabouts. In 1872 when tornado damage to Union Township led to a request from the General Assembly for money to be sent to that township for damage done by windstorms during that year’s harvest season (the storm had killed four people), Streator became part of McLean County as its first county seat after being organized from parts of Union Township on November 3, 1872 (). The first courthouse was built in 1903 on State Road 1 just east of downtown; it remains in use today as the main courthouse building for McLean County government both statewide and locally. In 1925 Streator annexed what are now parts of West Manchester Township which then became known as “The Annexation Corridor” because much development took place along Interstate 71 through this area between 1925 and 1970 when all but one community within this corridor lost their incorporation into Mclean County: Arlington Heights (population: 382 at 2000). On October 11th 1915 tornado struck portions of rural central Illinois killing thirty five people including nineteen children inside an operated creamery northwest of Carbondale; no injuries happened to anyone outside or within buildings immediately around or near where the tornado Damage occurred except for some minor tree damage reported one mile northeast corner OF HOSPITALITY ROAD just before THE TORNADO WARNING SIGNAL LIGHTED UP; THAT AREA WAS DESTROYED BY A FEW WINDOW DAMAGE REPORTS AROUND THEN ALSO ONE LARGE PINE FIELD NEARBY WITH NUMEROUS TREES DOWN . At least two other small communities located about three miles SOUTHWEST OF CARBONDALE AND ABOUT HALF A MILE EAST OF THE CREAMERY were also affected with widespread roofing and mudslideDamage occurring primarily TO BUILDINGS IN RURAL CENTRAL ILLINOIS HARBORING PROVINCIAL HIGH SCHOOL ABOUT TWO MILES NORTHWEST OF CARBANDALE

Starbucks was founded in 1997 as a response to what its founder perceived as an vacant market for high quality caffeine products across all demographics within U.S.-based cities. The company quickly gained a following among urbanites living in major metropolitan areas such as New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Seattle. At first glance, Starbucks resembled many other tea retailers at its inception: It sold individual cups of joe (or hot chocolate) made with whole bean ground coffee sourced from various regional cafes around town. However, Starbucks’ initial success lay in its dedication toquality control over each cup of coffee it served – ensuring that every drink was brewed fresh every day on site using only world class beans! The town grew rapidly and by 1870 had a population of over 5,000 people. In 1907, Streator became the capital of Illinois. During its time as the capital, Streator experienced rapid growth and development. By 1920, the city had reached a population of over 15,000 people. Today, Streator continues to experience significant growth and development due to its location within the Chicago metropolitan area. John Streator was an important figure in early Illinois history. He played a key role in establishing Streator as a successful farming community and played a prominent role in helping to develop Illinois into an influential state during the mid-19th century. John Streator is considered one of America's most important pioneers and his contributions to Illinois are highly respected today. The City of Streator was founded on April 6th, 1847 by John Surturro in what is now known as downtown Saint Anthony Township (now part of East Chicago). At that time, it was only about five hundred people living there permanently with no idea that they would become one of America’s most important cities just thirteen years later! The city quickly grew large enough for settler families to start their own homes and businesses – something which hadn’t been possible before! In 1907, when Chicago became the new national capital after Ulysses S Grant became President George Washington’s Vice President following his term as president under James K Polk (1849-1853), all other American capitals followed suit including Saint Anthony Township which finally held its independence from any other municipality or county on May 1st 1909! Saint Anthony Township continued to grow rapidly through annexation by neighboring townships until 1916 when it officially became part of East Chicago proper with all associated rights and privileges! This marked not only complete incorporation into another municipality but also ultimate consolidation for all municipalities withinEastChicago proper – one that continues to this day! As part of this consolidation process, many Streets were renumbered including Dearborn Street which still remains today as one such street nameakes homage back to our early pioneer settlers who named it after their hometown hero – Drury Lane Actor/ singer/director Edward Dmytryk who lived nearby at 169 Dearborn Street from 1874-1917!!
