They opened the first Coffee House on February 12th, 1812. In 1814, they opened the second Coffee House which was located on Main Street. The coffee houses were a place for people to meet and talk about politics and religion. They also served as places where people could buy goods and services from local merchants.
Steger is a small town in McHenry County, Illinois. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Steger is known for its apple orchards and cheese factories. The first settler in Steger was George Hildebrandt, who arrived in 1814. In 1825, John Sutter founded the town of Sacramento on the site of Steger's current courthouse square. The first store there was a partnership between Sutter and his brother-in-law Cornelius Addison Maynard. A post office called Steger was established in 1835, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1840, Elijah Wilmotte brought over some livestock from Moline to start a dairy farm here. His grandson Elijah II (1840-1927) ran that farm until his death in 1927; it then passed to his son George Wilmotte Jr., who operated it until he died in 1974. George III Wilmotte took over operations after his father's death and continue them until their sale to the Wright family in 1986; they continue to run it as the Wright Dairy Company today. After World War II, many people left "the land of milk" for good because of high prices for eggs and other produce around Chicago; however, many new families moved into SteGER during this time; most notably when Jack Welch became CEO of GEICO here beginning in 1984 The local economy has been mostly agriculture since prehistory due to windbreaks available along waterways which provide irrigation systems for crops such as apples and potatoes . However with advances made by technologies like Monsanto’s settlement technology that allowed farmers more efficient use of inputs such as seed rotation/fertilization etc., much modern industry has sprung up aroundSteGER including: grocery stores (Grocery Mart), tire shops (Tire Emporium), automotive parts stores (Parts Unlimited) etc.; as well as several restaurants including two pizzerias – Pizzeria Roma & Pizzeria del Famiglia – both open since 1978 As late as 2007 about 60%of all revenue from agricultural sales came from processed foods while only 10% came from unprocessed items

This caused demand for coffee to increase even more as people discovered new areas where this valuable commodity could be found. As more people traveled throughout different parts of the world, they discovered different methods of growing and brewing coffee which led to the development of different types of coffees. Some roasters began experimenting with different roast profiles, flavors, and methods in order create unique coffees that appealed specifically to certain demographics or regions. As the years went on, these innovations would eventually become standardized across many different roasters around the world.
Steger is a small village in the town of Steger, located in Kane County, Illinois. The population was 587 at the 2010 census. The village was founded on November 2, 1871 by John H. Steger and his wife, Anna L. (née Schaefer). It was named after Augustus Ewing Steger, an early settler in the area. The first store opened in 1872 and the first post office opened in 1875. The village had a single school until 1893 when it became a part of the Steger-Munster School District. On July 1, 1907, the village passed an ordinance adopting a police department and setting up patrolmen to enforce local ordinances. On April 15, 1913, the Village Board adopted a resolution urging state legislators to pass legislation authorizing annexation of SteGER Township (laterStreamwood) into Kane County because of its proximity to Chicago and other large cities. The last resident left SteGER on September 30th, 2007 after over 100 years living there.
In 1818, Steger was a small town located in Kane County. It had a population of about seventy-five people and consisted of ten families. The first white person to arrive in Steger was Michael Steger, who came with his horse and buggy on July 4, 1818. The first post office in Steger was established on December 1, 1822. On January 1, 1827, the name of the town changed to Plainfield after its founder, Elijah Plainfield. On May 15, 1870, Plainfield became a city and it has since grown to over one thousand residents. In 1959-1960 Plainfield also built the only paved expressway in Kane County – Elm Street Expressway.
