The St. Charles, Illinois Army Garrison was established in 1851 as a military headquarters for the county. In 1865, the city of Chicago donated land to the Army and it moved into its present location on West Side Highway in 1872. The City of St.Charles also donated money to purchase equipment and supplies for the Garrison. servicemen from all over the United States came to stay at the Garrison during World War I and II. Many famous people, such as General George Washington, attended military drills at or near the Garrison throughout these times. After World War II ended, many of the army's equipment and supplies were transferred to other garrisons around Illinois, but some remain on display at The Garrison today (e.g., an M1 Abrams tank). Today, The Garrison is home to an important community service program that helps families with children who have low income backgrounds get access to education and training opportunities through summer camps and academies that are run by local churches and organizations.

St. Charles is a small town in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,923 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name St. Charles comes from nearby Mount Carmel and its Patron Saint, St.Charles of Hungary. The parish was founded by French Catholics in 1809 as part of the Great Western Road ecclesiastical circuit. Pope Pius IX created the parish on November 7, 1853 after hearing about an Irish friar who had been converted to Catholicism there and his help distributing food to those in need during a time of famine in Ireland (1845-49). French Catholic missionaries built a small chapel on what is now Main Street in 1854 which became known as "The Parish House." In 1861, Father Daniel Duchaine arrived from France with seven young men to proselytize among the local Native American population and help build up church services here among them; this community hall still stands today (it has since been renovated). In 1863 Father John Juhlmann came to work here and organized religious Workshops for Boys that led to girls being baptized soon afterwards (now known as Notre Dame de la Garde High School). After serving parochial vicariously through Mother Josephine's convent on Milwaukee Avenue until 1865 when she retired due to poor health he relocated here permanently with his family in 1865 under then Archbishop Geoghan Murphy who named him Vicar Apostolic of All Illiniens before moving back downriver some years later only for him also to die suddenly While residing HERE on October 15th 1886 making St. Charles one short year behind schedule! Pope Leo XIII re-established officialdiocesan jurisdiction over all of Kane County including St .Charles Parish on October 20th 1898 under which it continued until our current Diocese was erected back into full Ecclesiastical jurisdiction by Pope Francis On January 14th 2011!! After WWI, many more countries joined Forces with Austria Hungary including Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Romania etc., forming what we know today as NATO or North Atlantic Treaty Organization! As empires fell, so too did these armies; however some persisted until dissolved such as India’s Indian National Army during World War II while others like Brazil's Brazilian Armed Forces still fight today!
