This company produced a blends of coffee beans called Miller’s Specialty Coffee. In 1922, the company changed its name to the present-day Skokie Coffee Company. The business continued to produce high-quality coffee until 1997 when it merged with two other businesses to form the current conglomerate, JBS Holdings Incorporated. The origins of theSkokie Coffee Company are significant because it was one of the first companies in America to produce whole bean coffees from Africa. The beans were brought over by pioneers such as David Handley and James Watt who purchased them from local farmers in 1892. After years of research and development, JBS Holdings Incorporated hired a team that included experts in roasting and brewing methods to develop their own unique roast style called Heritage Roasts. This distinctive flavor has been popularized throughout America by brands such as Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts who have adopted it as their default roast style.

Skokie, Ill. is a city located in the Chicago metropolitan area and is part of the Chicago–Naperville–Kenilworth, IL Combined Statistical Area. The population was 54,827 at the 2010 census. Skokie is named for General George Washington's army officer and friend and neighbor Nicholas Skokie. According to the 2010 census, of all housing units in Illinois, 83% were owner-occupied and 15% were occupied by renters. The city's history dates back to 1847 when General George Washington's army camped on what is now Skokie Lake near present day Elgin Heights. On October 7 of that year, congress passed an act giving land to Nicholas Skokie in return for his furnishing goods necessary for American troops during their war with Mexico. Nicholas also donated horses, mules, carts and other equipment needed by the military personnel stationed there. In 1849 local farmers purchased 1/2 mile (1 km) of township line from General Washington for $5 per acre ($50 per square kilometer). The first town meeting took place on November 10th under the presidency of Drs. John Ruchonius and James Hickey. It voted to name the new town "Skokia" after Nicholas Skoki who had contributed so much to its development over these years as a farmer and citizen! On September 2nd 1830 Samuel Morse sent his first telegraph message from Baltimore via a private cable system between Philadelphia and Annapolis Maryland using four copper wires running through Reading Pennsylvania - just two miles from where today’s North Avenue crosses Elk Grove Road - this was possible because Congress had authorized building a canal acrossskirting Lisle County “to afford means for communication between those parts … without interruption or obstruction” which would have run through Sandwich (now Elmhurst), Galesburg (now Lombard), Hoffman Estates (now Palatine), Evanston (now Wheaton), Mount Prospect (now Westchester) – this would have allowed easy access by railroads throughout most of central Illinois including Chicago – it was never built! However while trying to send an image of his house which he did not live at but usually visited while living in Baltimore via the private wire system he managed to send this beautiful sketch showing Mt Prospect looking straight out into Lake Michigan: In 1857 Abraham Lincoln was elected President making Skokie one of America’s ten original cities! At first only white men could vote but soon African Americans began voting as well!! In 1907 Mayor George Prentice merged with neighboring village East Molinelles creating an even more diverse community that still exists today known as “ skokiewood ” !! The city has experienced many changes since then including becoming home to Northwestern University; being designated as a center for medical technology research; hosting numerous international dignitaries such as Presidents Jimmy Carter & Richard Nixon; being host city for boththe Super Bowl LI & II; becoming one of America’s most economically vibrant suburbs with over 180 businesses anchored around high-tech industries such as Apple Inc., Facebook , Googleplex etc.; large trade shows like IFA showrooms take place here each year attracting Millions in visitor traffic bringing tens thousands jobs right here into our communities ;Skokia continues its commitment to provide world class services within our neighborhoods traditional values like creativity & self-reliance remain unchanged
