The Schaumburg Coffee Company was founded in 1898 by Julius and Elsie Schaumburg. It became the first coffee company in Illinois to be certified as a roaster by the National Roasters Association. The Schaumburg Coffee Company continues to roast its own beans today, proudly serving up delicious coffee from their original location on State Street in Schaumburg.
Schaumburg is a citywide, suburban town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 86,827 at the 2010 census. Schaumburg is home to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Schaumburg High School football team. The community was named after Augustus Schaumburg, an early settler in what is now Schaumburg Township. In 1834, Augustus Schaumburg sold his land to John P. Hettinger for $5 per acre. He named the township in honor of his father-in-law, General George Washington Hesseltine. The first school in Schaumburg opened in 1836 under the name of "Augus' Academy." A new school building was completed in 1881 and served as the city's first high school until it closed its doors in 1954. In 1850, Chicago lawyer David Sibley bought about one third of all of Cook County for $10 million from speculator Darius Noyes. He platted what would become Schaumburga Township on sections of land he had purchased from General Hesseltine two years earlier while still living in England; he named it after himself and donated most of the funds to build a courthouse and other civic amenities thereon (the latter project led to him becoming known as "Das Schaumburga"). The first post office opened here on December 12, 1850; it was renamed "Schaumburga" on November 16, 1875 (after David Sibley's death). On July 10, 1907–one day after incorporation by general law – local papers reported that "an act has been passed by the General Assembly providing for a municipal government within limits prescribed by charter." After World War I ended with Treaty ending German troops leaveen America & remaining over seas (& some returning), many Germans who never got back their property settled hereabouts & started businesses such as grocery storekeepers etc.; this area became known as Grosse Freie Straße or Great Boulevard. In 1924 when Carbondale annexed much nearby farmland eastward into Carbondale proper including parts of present day Hoffman Estates & Evanston Township along with part northward into Clinton Township (now Addison), SCHAUMBURG lost its status as a town though people continued to populate it therein mostly because they wanted their grain elevator closer to home than where they lived elsewhere so carbondale could claim them too! It wasn't until 1966 when SCHAUMBURG had its own City Councilmember! This happened due to large number of residents moving out during that time period following integration efforts initiated by then Mayor Edward Jenski.) On January 1st 1978 Lyle Keith moved into this house which sat vacant since Maynard Smith's death...It was later used as business headquarters for UIC Extension 4th Floor before finally being vacated again and left empty again until leased out starting around 2007/2008...This former UIC Extension offices building has housed various businesses such as: KFC Pizza House (2007-2009), Party City (2009-present)...It is currently being leased out for use as an event space called The Metropole! Since opening its doors less than one year ago on March 9th 2008 Schaumberg Community Hall has seen great success hosting events ranging from dances to weddings both inside and outside! With seating capacity for up to 250 guestsSchaumberg offers plenty of room for any function you may want or need!
