Roselle is a small town in far northwestern Illinois. The population was 4,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Peoria, IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village of Roselle was platted in 1868 by John and Lucy Knight and named for the rose that grew wild near their home on the banks of the Sangamon River. In 1875, John's grandson Halsey Knight donated land to establish a public school district which would include Roselle. The first Roselle High School opened in 1909. The Knights founded what is now St Joseph's Catholic Church in 1896 as a means of providing religious services to workers on the local cotton plantations. The church became an all-purpose parish in 1912 and has since served both local residents and migrants from surrounding counties. In 1955, when voters approved a $225,000 bond election to build new schools within Roselle limits (the largest amount ever raised for education locally), then-Mayor Harry White appointed Dr James Crouch superintendent of Schools within the new school system; this marked the beginning of Roselle's long association with public education as it exists today. Today, Roselle boasts two high schools - one offering 9th through 12th grade students traditional academics while also enrolling students with special needs - four middle schools (grades 7 through 8), five elementary schools (Kindergarten through 5th grade) and one specialized center for learning Disabilities which offers mounted training sessions for teachers interested in teaching children with disabilities from birth until age 16 or beyond; as well as numerous other programs available only to residents or families who financially support them!

Roselle is a town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,871 at the 2010 census. It was founded by farmers in 1869 as part of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad's route from Downers Grove to Peoria. The first post office in Roselle was organized on October 25, 1872. The community name derived from a rose that grew near the original schoolhouse. A later school building served as both the town hall and the Roselle Courthouse until it burned down in 1915. In 1903, the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad built a branch line east from Roselle to Addison Township in Cook County. This line connected with the Illinois Central Railway at Addison and Elston Streets outside of Roselle. The railroad operated its own tracks through town until 1944 when it merged into the Penn Central Railroad. In 1919, Roscoe Grosvenor became one of Illinois' first governors when he was elected over incumbent Samuel Janklowitz by an overwhelming margin; Grosvenor had campaigned on a platform of creating jobs for local residents within reach of work opportunities (Roselle being one such opportunity). After his term ended in 1921, Grosvenor returned to his farmstead near Mount Prospect and continued to serve as an agricultural representative on various state government committees throughout his career until his death in 1957. In 1982, Roscoe Grosvenor Elementary School was dedicated in honor of him during Idle No More weekend on Long Island . On November 15th 1984- An event took place throughout America which we will never forget called "An Unforgettable Day" where more than 100 million people participated Nationwide this demonstration showed that Democracy can work even if there are several groups who try to stop it
