Romeoville is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,542 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Romanoville is located on the west side of North Avenue and Old Rome Road about 10 miles south of downtown Chicago. The town was organized in 1871 as a result of an effort by two farmers, William Rome and John Rome, to create a community where they could raise their families without having to leave their land. They named the community after Saint Romeo and Juliette (whose story has been adapted into various plays), because they felt that Romeo would be more likely to find his true love if he lived near a small town like Romeoville rather than outside of it. Today, most residents are descendants of those who founded Romeoville or moved here during its early years. Romanoville today consists primarily of single-family homes built between the late 19th century and the early 21st century; many were originally frame houses with large yards that provided plenty of space for growth dating back to when much of Cook County was rural farmland. There are also some duplexes and apartments buildings but few commercial buildings from when Romansville was a small hamlet with very limited access to transportation other than walking or biking to work. The only shopping mall in Romeoville is called Village Center which opened in 2006 along with several smaller stores inside it including Macy’s department store and Sears Outlet which closed in 2013 due to falling sales rates within Village Center combined with competition from larger malls such as Sears Kenmore and JCPenney nearby. The village center contains several restaurant options including Hardee's restaurant chain as well as Italian restaurants popular among tourists who visit Chicago during Cicero weekdays (the first weekend in November). Most notable locally is Stroudsburg High School where football powerhouse Northwestern University students attend for classes leading up to their Big Ten Conference games against Illinois State University on Saturday October 26th at 3pm CST/10pm ET live on Fox Sports Midwest (a member station owned by Comcast) . The National Guard has a long and varied history. It is one of the oldest standing militias in the United States, dating back to 1795. The Guard was originally organized as a militia to provide security for America's borders during the Revolutionary War. The Militia Act of 1672 created the first national guard regiment, which served until 1775. In 1824, the Militia Act was amended to create the National Guard Bureau, which became operational in 1855. By 1912, there were over 2 million Guardsmen serving in uniform across all 50 states and Washington D.C.. On November 12th, 1917, President Woodrow Wilson established a National Guard Bureau within the Department of Defense to support military mobilization for World War I. On July 4th, 1920, Congress passed an act creating two more National Guard divisions: The 1st Infantry Division (later redesignated as the 9th Infantry Division) and The 11th Infantry Division (later redesignated as the 20th Infantry Division). These divisions were activated on October 20th and November 3rd respectively. During World War II, both combatant armies enlisted large numbers of Guardsmen from all 50 US states and Washington D.C.. For Operation Overlord (the Normandy landings), up to 830 thousand Guardsmen were called into service between June 1944-July 1945 inclusive. After hostilities ended on September 2nd 1945, many Guardsmen remained in service through 1946 as part of various occupation forces including Japanese military forces stationed in Japan; Korean soldiers who fought against Ulysses S Grant’s American army during World War II; Vietnamese refugees who fled their country after its fall; Puerto Rican Navalguardsman assigned to protect Allied shipping off Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria destroyed much of that island’s infrastructure; etc.. In recent years there has been a trend towards disbanding or reducing Army National Guard units throughout North America due to budgetary constraints – with some units still remaining active today but located outside major metropolitan areas across most regions……… There have been multiple efforts by governors along with members of Congress at different levels over time at increasing troop levels within state/provincial boundaries without any clear plan for how this would work…..A study released last year found that only about half (51%) of troops raised since 2002 had actually been deployed since then……….Governors have also taken issue with what they see as politicized policing tactics being used by local police forces……….Emergency response teams are now specifically trained not just respond but engage when necessary beyond standard law enforcement duties…..While Governor Christie pushed legislation earlier this year making it easier for citizens to form citizen militias – including giving them immunity from prosecution if they do so – his administration quickly rescinded that measure following public outcry………………………………….[Governor] Cuomo said he plans on deploying more than 6500 New York StateNationalGuard officers statewide by 2021……………………………….......[New Mexico Governor] Sandoval said his state will deploy up to 8000 guardswomen next year…………………………………..In Connecticut Gov [Dannel P.] Malloy announced plans for an additional 4000 guardswomen over five years……………………………………....The Governors Association commented on Cuomo’s statement saying “this sends a clear message that we want our Guardsmen deployments focused where they belong: fighting terrorism and defending our communities”
