The Marine Corps was founded in 1875 as the United States Marines. The unit has fought in many wars and campaigns, including World War II and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Marines have been deployed throughout the world, giving them an extensive gift history. Rolling Meadows is a small, rural town in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 5,118 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settlers in Rolling Meadows were farmers and their families who arrived around 1853. Today, rolling farmland makes up much of the community's landscape and it retains many of its early features such as smaller homes and outbuildings dotting a large open field that bisects the town center. Rollin' Meadows was founded on July 4, 1871 by George Smeaton and his brother-in-law Amos Prentice. The name "Rolling Meadows" likely derived from one or more of four rollers found along the original course of present day Route KVY: 1) Dutchman's Roll (now known as South Side Highway), 2) Indianola Road (now Huron Street), 3) Main Street (now Oak Lawn Avenue), 4) Morningside Drive). The railroad arrived in Rolling Meadows in 1876 and soon made it an important transportation hub for the community. Railroads brought new life to rolling farmland with increased trade and commerce coming into town. Today, Rolling Meadows remains a historic stop on Amtrak's Chicago-to-New York corridor with plenty of heritage attractions to enjoy such as its two churches – First United Methodist Church which was built in 1900 by Reverend Jesse Hinton and Second Presbyterian Church which was built in 1915 by Rev John Wacker – both closed when Amtrak merged with New York Central Railroad in 1948; as well as several other interesting buildings including a post office building dating back to 1903; a millinery store operated from 1896 until 1904; an ice cream parlor opened in 1922; brick schoolhouses from 1903 until 1918; numerous small businesses including grocery stores 1910 through 1960; blacksmith shops 1916 through 1984; auto sales garage 1936 through 1951; three restaurants serving Americanized Chinese cuisine 1925 through 1957 - Golden Dragon Gourmet Chinese restaurant 1940 through 1949, Shanghai Garden 1937 through 1951, Big China Bistro 1945 through 1955 - all now gone but preserved within walking distance of their former locations.; several tennis courts dating back to 1926 are also still available for use today
Since the marines have been deployed, there has been a lot of different gifts given to them. Some of these gifts have been physical objects like rifles, knives, and more. One Marine who has had a very special gift history is Sgt. Jeff “The Jet” Scanlon. Sgt. Scanlon was deployed to Afghanistan in 2002 as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear and he was one of the first Marines to return home with an Purple Heart! He also received the Special Forces Tabard which is awarded to a marine who engages in combat with precision skills outside the normal soldiering guidelines. This award is considered very prestigious and it is something that most marines aspire for. Sgt. Scanlon returned home with his family and made sure they were all well taken care of before he went back into action again soon after being discharged from the military in 2006! He once again served his country alongside others on Deployment Zulu in 2007 where he performed duties such as rifleman, signals intelligence officer, and helicopter pilot! In 2010 he was honorably discharged from service after 20 years of honorable service! Nowadays Sgt. Scanlon resides in Sumter County, SC with his wife Andrea and two children (ages 10 & 12). He enjoys spending time outdoors fishing, bird watching, playing golf, reading books by himself or with his kids while sitting around the kitchen table eating dinner together! When not busy serving our country or enjoying life simply because it means something to him (and we can’t help but hope that this will continue!), Sergeant Jeff “The Jet” Scanlon loves spending time at home cooking up some good old fashioned Carolina style BBQ That will make your taste buds watermelon!!!

Rolling Meadows is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 604 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name Rolling Meadows comes from the rolling hills that surround it. The town was founded by John and Catherine Roller in 1838 as a small community on the edge of what is now Cicero Township. In 1839, they bought 5 acres of land east of Cicero to create a new township and named it Rolling Meadows after their home village in England. Rollers were among the first white settlers in Cook County and played an important role in developing the township and its residents. In 1861, when Illinois became a state, Rolling Meadows was renamed Rockview Heights after Rock View Manor in Palatine, Illinois which had been donated to the state by George Washington Carver Jr.. In 1906, Rollings sold his remaining interest in Rockview Heights to developers who built what is now Millennium Park on its site. Rolling Meadows has experienced many changes over its history: from being a tiny community with few residents during the 1830s to becoming one of Chicago's most vibrant neighborhoods during the late 19th century to witnessing significant growth during World War II as Allied military forces evacuated troops and civilians from downtown Chicago for safety reasons. The post-war period saw renewed development with single family detached homes becoming popular within Rolling Meadows boundaries; however, rapid gentrification soon followed as wealthier residents moved into areas just outside of town limits while keeping close ties to their original community values and culture. In recent years there has been some effort to revive some aspects of pioneer culture including summer concerts held on open fields adjacent to Main Street; however these events have typically drawn fewer than 100 people due to heavy competition from larger venues within minutes' walking distance of Rolling Meadows properties

The population increased by more than 1,000 percent between 1910 and 1920. During this time, Rolls Avenue became one of the most important streets in Rolling Meadows; it served as both a main artery for transportation within the community and also acted as a dividing line between different neighborhoods. In 1925, Rolling Meadows incorporated as a village under state law. This decision allowed for greater control over local affairs and helped makeRolling Meadows one of the most progressive villages in Cook County at that time. In recent years, however, rolling mall development has begun to take hold inRolling Meadows; this has led to decreased visitation by locals and more residents coming from outside of the village for shopping purposes
