Riverdale is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,471 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Riverdale was named after the river that flows through it. The first settler in what is now Riverdale was Nicholas Hennepin, who purchased land in 1786. In 1812, John Pritzker and his brother Abraham bought property from Nicholas Hennepin and built a log cabin on what is now Wacker Drive. They also developed a corn farm that became one of the largest in Illinois. In 1820, Pritzker married Anna Ladd and they moved to Riverdale where he continued to operate his farm as well as own many businesses including clothing stores and breweries. He died in 1892 and his wife continued to run their home until her death in 1953. Anna Ladd's husband had been born into a family of farmers originally from Transylvania County, Ohio; he had come to America when he was just eighteen years old with his parents and three brothers and sisters. After being widowed for several years, Anna Ladd met John Pritzker while they were both working at an American paper company in Europe; she took him back to America with her when she returned from her trip there in 1897. She started running her own business shortly thereafter which eventually became known as Mrs.-P-Bags Incorporated (later renamed JCPenney). In 1925, Anna Pritzker gave birth to their only child Lenore Pritzker Kapp; she raised him until he graduated from high school before moving into corporate management herself some time around 1975-76.) After World War II ended hostilities between the United States and Japan following Armistice Day 1945, much of Japan lay abandoned due to damage done by American forces during the war - including extensive destruction of villages near Tokyo Bay called Yokohama Bay districts (Yokohama Peninsula). Many refugees living near Yokohama City (/Nagasaki city) decided not go through with the long walk or boat journey due fear for their safety should they be discovered by Japanese authorities upon arrival (). Consequently many refugees settled near Naka Ward (), today's eastern side of downtown Nagasaki City (), taking up residence among many other European immigrants who had also relocated northward during this time (). Most eastern Europeans who had decided not migrate north went on into business or politics locally while others chose Idaho () where there were no German residents () . Fujimura Kikuyo led a group of six hundred refugees who set out for North America aboard ships anchored off Shinagawa bay on December 15th 1946 (). Upon landing at Vancouver BC., most quickly established themselves among local music scene enjoying early access onto social media sites like YouTube where footage documenting their arrival exists However similar experiences did not occur with those arriving via ship [] []

The Riverdale community of Illinois was founded in 1847 by a group of farmers who had come to the area from Indiana. The community was named for one of the five rivers that make up the Illinois River system. The first settlers were primarily farmers, and their primary business was growing corn and other crops. However, over time, river transportation became more important in the community, and so boat traffic began to increase as well. By 1860, all but two of the original families had died in the area; however, they had left behind a lasting legacy on the community. They are credited with helping to form what is now known as Illinois's agricultural industry.
