The United States Air Force's Riverdale Wing has a proud history of providing gift-wrapped presents for American families overseas. The wing has sent back more than $2 million in presents to family members since it was established in 1941. One of the branch's earliest and most popular traditions is the Christmas present exchange, which takes place every year on December 15th. This annual event allows airmen and women from all branches of the service to Exchange gifts with their loved ones back at home. This year, Riverdale Wing airmen and women will send more than 5,000 presents to family members living abroad this holiday season! In order to support these efforts, we would like to share some special information about our branch's deployed gift history. In 1941, the USAF became operational as an aerial warfare command unit under General Douglas MacArthur. At that time, Riverdale Wing was organized as a component of this new organization. The wing flew its first combat mission against Japanese forces on December 8th in what would be its first engagement. After months of training and testing, the Wright R-2700B airplanes were finally delivered to the wing on January 9th 1942. These planes were initially used for reconnaissance purposes but soon proved themselves as effective fighter pilots. On February 7th 1942, they participated in their first ground attack mission against Japanese positions near Iwo Jima Island. Unfortunately for the Americans, they lost two pilots during this engagement; one died before he could be captured while the other managed to escape unharmed[1]. After months of hard work and dedication from its aircrews, Riverdale Wing was awarded its first battle honor on March 18th 1942 when it destroyed five enemy aircraft over Osaka City[2]. This success led to increased activity within the wing and upon activation for Operation Husky on May 2nd 1942[3], Riverdale Wing contributed both losses (4 dead) and successes (5 destroyed or damaged aircraft) in what would be its only action untilSeptember 1943 when it engaged German forces over Holland[4]. Priorities changed after Japan's surrender on September 2nd 1945 so that riverdale wing decided instead focus primarily on reconstruction following World War II ending less than a month later with atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki which killed approximately 60% of all population inside those cities making such bombing pregnant [5],[6],[7] As mentioned earlier there remained a problem with returning war dead due mainly to lack clearance by military authorities post-surrender who did not want any blame attached directly unto themselves [8] Consequently many perished never knowing their story or how they might have been differently treated had they survived). During peacetime until 1991 no gifts were sent because individuals serving without eligibility disclaimed any responsibility should anything go wrong while deployed therefore accepting no financial compensation should anything arise

The base is home to the 8th Airlift Wing, which provideslift support for troops and equipment stationed all over the world. The wing also offers students opportunities to learn about aviation through instruction and flight training. In addition to its air force roots, Riverdale is also home to a variety of civilian businesses that contribute to the community.
Riverdale, Illinois is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,838 at the 2010 census. Riverdale is located on the north side of Chicago and is bordered by the South Side to the west and northwest, West Side to the east and southeast, and Bellwood to the south. It is part of the downtown Chicago area. The name "Riverdale" was first given to this town by General John Fenton in 1837. The first settlers in Riverdale were Palatine Germans who came from Upper Bavaria in 1814. They named their community after a river that flowed through their land. At first they farmed land near what is now Roosevelt Road and Pulaski Road; however they soon began trading with Indians on the Fox River. In 1835 General Fenton granted them 640 acres (2 km²) of land near present-day Amsterdam Avenue and Irving Park Road for farming purposes only; this allowed them to trade with other tribes living near or withinChicago limits without fear of attacked by these neighboring villages or townsmen). The Palatine German immigrants built a log cabin called "Fenton's Chapel," which still stands today at 141st Street and Langdon Avenue in Riverdale. early residents also raised chickens and pigs on their farmsteads as well as hogs, cows, calves, macaws (parrots), dogs, catsfish (clams),NB:In 1905 an alligator was found dead off Putnam Avenue near Ridgemont Drive., making it one of America's earliest publicized cases of man captive feeding an alligator! A post office called "Lake View" was established in 1855; it closed operation in 1907. A new post office called "Ridgeview" was established in 1912; it opened operation on October 14th that year and remained open until 1951 when it changed its name back to "Riverdale." In 1865 John Pritzker bought 5 lots adjacent to what are now Eisenhower Parkway & Racine Ave from Wabash Coal Company for $30 ($ million at 2006 prices). Pritzker developed his estate into three neighborhoods: White Settlement (later known as North Ridgeview), Blue Ash Township (later known as East Ridgeview), and Ravenswood Gardens which contains much of modern day Riverdale including its large oak trees which are still visible today following over 100 years of growth! Today many families live close together along Irving Park Rd./Emanuel Rd., providing close access to jobsites/schools while preserving some privacy! Mr Pritzker donated most if not all of these tree-lined streetscape features - such as white picket fences around homes - back then but continues funding many aspects like streetlights etcetera even beyond his death date...one can assume he would have been very pleased with how things turned out!
The United States Air Force Deployed Gift History is a significant history of the USAF and its air forces deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The history stretches back to World War II when theAAF was formed as an arm of the U.S. Army Air Forces and served in both the European and Pacific theaters of war. The gift history during Operation Iraqi Freedom highlights how USAF members have been a critical part of US military efforts since 9/11, supporting coalition operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since 9/11, USAF members have made a real difference in liberating countries from tyranny, helping to restore democracy, and fighting against terror. Throughout Operation Iraqi Freedom, top commanders from both the Pentagon and Headquarters Air Force Command were proud to award civilian personnel with service medals for their contributions toOperation Iraqi Freedom ceasefire negotiations or other humanitarian endeavors on-the-ground or at sea. Many servicemen received commendations even before they ever left their home country – such as Captain James Thomas who was awarded two Silver Star Medals posthumously for his actions leading up to the invasion of Kuwait City on August 2nd 1990; Major General Charles Crouch III who received three Purple Hearts during Operation Desert Storm; Lieutenant Colonel Lawrence Bowers (Ret.), who received one Bronze Star Medal posthumously for heroism during combat operations against insurgents near Baghdad; Sergeant First Class Johnathan Dyer (USAF), whose death Saving More Kids From A Fatal Car Crash ledto national media coverage; Major Christopher Hogg (USAF) with the Distinguished Flying Cross forwidgetginghis tanker onto an enemy fighter field afterwarning his unit about a potential fuel supply shortage south of Baghdad; Lieutenant Colonel Michael Whelan’s hazardous material response team which successfully delivered more than 1 million gallons of water purification supplies to relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina);[and] Master Sergeant Brenton Ingram (Army National Guard)whoreceivedtheNational Defense Service Medalforhis participationinIraqi military operations outside Camp Victory over multiple deployments beginning in 2003.] These individuals reflect not only what may be done while deployed but also how deployment has helped shape many soldiers into patriots today.

Riverdale is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 21,451 at the 2010 census. Riverdale is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and is bordered by the communities of South Side (to the east), West Side (to the west) and North Side (to the northwest). The history of Riverdale began with two families who arrived in 1837 from Hungary. George Biddle and his wife Anna had six children in Illinois before moving to Ohio in 1847. Timothy Biddle and his wife Nancy settled in what would become Riverdale in 1881. The first post office was established atriverdalecounty on December 12, 1881. In 1906, a sawmill was built onthe confluence of the Des Plaines and Chicago Rivers just north of present-day Riverdale High School; it continued to be operated until 1984. In 1922, after several years of discussion between representatives from both townships about developing a shared industrial area near present-day Northwestern University's McCormick campus, voting took place to create that area as well. That same year saw also the establishment of what would become Riverdale's first school district - Park Ridge East School District No 2 - which included present-day Riverdale as well as portions of West Side and South Side. The town's growth slowed during World War II as many people chose to stay within Chicago due to wartime restrictions on travel and industry; however, by 1945 there were over 26 businesses operating in downtownRiverdale alone! From then on until its annexation by Chicagoland late in 1957, post-war riverdalecounty enjoyed an uninterrupted period of rapid growth that paralleled its sister township's dramatic expansion into modern day life! In recent years there has been an increase towards cultural activity for residents within Riverdale - music festivals have taken place annually around Maybank Lake since 2005 while art galleries have cropped up throughout downtown (most notably: The Goodman Gallery located near current day Roosevelt Road & Kedzie Avenue) giving residents plenty opportunity for retail shopping should they choose to venture out during their off hours! And finally given how close some residents feel to Downtown Chicago proper - becoming active participants in citywide events such as Stroll or Cubs games can easily be arrange through social media or even better via live streaming services like Periscope or Facebook Live!
Riverdale was founded in 1802 by the Potawatomi tribe. The town was named after areek, or river, because of its location on the confluence of two rivers. Riverdale grew quickly and became an important trading post for the area. In 1826, Riverdale was incorporated as a village. In 1848, the village was renamed Riverdale after landowner John Pemberton donated the land to the village. By 1870, Riverdale had a population of 400 people and it became an agricultural society with a cotton gin and distillery. In 1896, Riverdale became part of Cook County when Illinois became a state.
