The Rantoul National Guard was organized on November 17, 1892. The first Commander of the Guard was Maj. Gen. John T. Mahon. The unit moved to its current location in 1922 and has been stationed here ever since.
Rantoul is a small town in the central region of Illinois, United States. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. It lies on the north bank of the Kankakee River and is just east of downtown Chicago. The town began as a farming community in 1847 and grew rapidly due to its location on the southern bank of the Kankakee River. In 1870, Rantoul became an incorporated town with a population of 2,500. By 1920, it had grown to 8,000 people. The current incarnation of Rantoul began taking form as a bedroom community for Chicago in the early 1960s. After years of growth and development, it reached its current size by 2000. Rantoul is home to several museums including the Illinois State Museum and Park (ISMP), which contains artifacts from both Illinois pioneer settlers and Chicagoans during that time period; and the John Fitch House Museum which preserves relics from one of America's most prominent businessmen. Additionally, there are numerous businesses such as ABC Chevrolet dealerships, Pizza Hut restaurants and Jack Daniels Distillery all located within easy walking distance of each other making it easy for residents to get around town without leaving their homes!

Rantoul, Illinois is a small town located in McHenry County, Illinois. The population was 4,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The community was laid out in 1836 by three men from Rantoul, Indiana named Daniel Boone, Elijah Craig and James K. Polk. The first store in Rantoul opened its doors on December 12th of that year. At the time it was the only store in town and the only one open during wintertime. The store had an apothecary where patients could get prescriptions for medicines and other items necessary for treatment. In 1838 Daniel Boone donated land to build a school which would serve as a learning center for young people of all ages in the area around Rantoul. In 1840 John Tappan built a home here which he used as his office until his death in 1876. He left behind an extensive collection of art and artifacts including pieces by French artist Fragonard and English artist William Hogarth which were exhibited at various venues throughout America before being brought to Rantoul where they are now displayed at the Tappan House Museum. A post office called "Tappan" was established here on March 7th, 1840 under direction of Amos Kendall; it closed operations on October 25th of that same year due to lack of mail volume from nearby towns such as Mayfield or Winnetka combined with increased competition from larger cities like Chicago (at that time considered part of Vandalia). In 1850 John Fenton erected a two-story frame schoolhouse on what is now Main Street just east of White Road; this structure served as education for children up until high school levels when local academies began operating within town limits beginning in 1872 In 1861 Isaac Noyes set up shop Here turning out saddles, horseshoes and wagon parts Noyes remained active until his death in 1902 After days long deliberations by local officials it was decided on November 15th 1870 that name change to "Rantoul" after General Ulysses S Grant who had served during the American Civil War while living near Humboldt County's Streator County ). This occurred concurrent with general elections held across McHenry County that day resulting in Farmer George Armstrong taking over control of government services including education within town limits becoming effective immediately . On July 1st 1880 Samuel Morse moved into 2nd Floor room #205 North Wacker Drive (later became known as Morse Hall) here setting up ground zero for one of America's earliest telegraph systems operationally linking eastern Michigan with Chicago
