Instead, plan developed for a new Coast Guard station in downtown Plano which would serve as both a Headquarters Building for Commandant Operations and also serve as homeport for various units: Patrol Boat Squadron One (PBS-1), Helicopter Squadron One (HS-1), Searchlight Squadron Two (SSL-2), Marine Mammal Unit Five (MMU-5), Water Rescue Squadron Three (WRS3) and Helicopter Wing Two (HW2). In 1961, when Hurricane Andrew struck Florida killing over 100 people along with many homes destroyed or damage done by wind shear caused much concern within the United States Government about our coastal communities across America Additional federal funds were available due to Hurricane Katrina which hit New Orleans just two weeks later making landfall on August 29th As a result of all these events there was now an extra $3 million available specifically for gifts giving by members of Congress called “ Coastal Community Grants Program” This program allowed individuals or organizations who donated significant sums of money towards hurricane relief efforts between September 11th through December 15th 2001 more than doubled their donation limit from $100 per day up to $500 per day This gave rise not onlyto some great philanthropy but also some excellent Carepackages being sent directly from your Congressional District!
