The United States Air Force gift history begins with the first purchase of a plane in 1941. The then-called "Aeronautical Division" purchased an NC-4E Private Transport Plane from Consolidated Aircraft Corporation. This was the first military aircraft to be bought by the USAF. In 1947, the USAF established its own gift shop called "The Pentagon Giftshop". The Shop was designed to provide gifts for members of the USAF, their families and friends. It is believed that this was one of the first stores where people could buy gifts for each other online. In 1990, General Electric Aviation donated a C-5 Galaxy air cargo transport which served as both a flying laboratory and museum honoring GE's contributions to aviation since World War II. The aircraft is now permanently parked at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio as part of the George R. Brown Museum of Aeronautics & Astronomy. Today, it is estimated that over 100 different types of planes have been donated to the USAF through various programs and donations totaling over $14 billion!

In 1941, the Chicago-based air force gift shop chain The United Airlines Store was founded by Colonel Harry Tilton. The first store opened in the heart of downtown Peoria, Illinois. In 1949, United Airlines merged with American Airlines and the store became part of American Air Lines. In 1987, American Air Lines spun off its airline operations and the store continued to be operated as an independent business until 2002 when it was sold to Cabela’s Inc. Cabela's announced in September 2014 that they would close all their stores nationwide due to a lack of demand from customers.
Peoria is a city located in the Illinois River Valley in the Midwestern United States. The population was 97,335 at the 2010 census. Peoria is home to the Peoria State University and the Peoria City School District. It has a humid subtropical climate (Cfa) with some significant cold winters. The area that now makes up Peoria was first settled by Native Americans in the late 17th century. In 1809, John Stephenson founded what would become Stephenson County on land he bought from the Ochoco people. This gave Peoria its name: after Major General James K. Polk's expedition into Indian Territory during the Mexican-American War, Polk called upon Stephens to lead an army against Mexico at San Jacinto near Austin, Texas on November 6, 1836. When Stephens arrived in Illinois he found that most of his men had deserted him and were camped around Springfield under command of Colonel John Brownell--the only American officer remaining loyal to President Andrew Jackson and his Democratic Party during this period of political upheaval known as "TheMexican Campaign." After arriving in Springfield, Stephens met with Judge Robert Houghton to discuss plans for defense against Mexico should it be necessary; however, nothing came of this meeting because Polk ordered Brownell to march his men back across Missouri River before they could participate in any combatting actions against Mexico In 1837 Stephen prosecuted two scalawags for stealing a horse from resident David Wills--an event which served as a pretext for ordering militia forces led by Captain Nicholas Jolietto burn down Wills' house on February 5th of that year. One year later, following county seat consolidation with Champaign County (and thus moving from Stephenson County), Peoria became one of five townships withinChampaign County when it was organized on January 1st of 1840 During World War II much activity took place here including production at Ulysses S. Grant's White Sands Proving Ground east of town where tons of munitions were generated; also various other projects such as making war bonds and manufacturing airplane parts here When Prohibition repealed following America's entry into World War I (but not before many businesses had closed), many small breweries reopened but overall brewing declined until about 1960 when several large brewers started up including Allstate Corporation and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company who both left after acquiring smaller competitors
The United States Air Force (USAF) has a rich history of giving gifts to others. One of the earliest USAF gifts was to its own members in 1947. The RAF's early days were shaped by American airmen who flew and fought with the USAF in World War II. In 1951, the USAF donated an experimental jet fighter, the F-104 Starfighter, to the RAF as part of the bilateral agreement between our two services. This gift marked one of many aviation donations from America to Great Britain during our Cold War years. In 1979, when then-President Jimmy Carter awarded his first honorary military citation to General Curtis LeMay for his service as Air Force Commander in Charge of Strategic Bomber Forces during Operation Desert Storm, it was America's largest donation ever made to a foreign country at that time. The US$5 million donation constituted 10% of all aircraft sales that year by our aerospace industry partners worldwide! In addition, since 1984 we have also given back more than $200 million through grateful alumni giving programs and other initiatives grounded in common values such as bipartisanship and public service. Our community outreach efforts are legendary; every day we serve others through tangible expressions of love and affection - whether it is our countless flights into space or support for veterans struggling through hard times on their return home from overseas deployments. Today, with over 350 active duty Wing commanders across 31 states and Guam (the UAS squadron stationed at Andersen AFB), we continue providing unmatched force protection within homeland airspace while also executing global missions tempo-wise as well as conducting training exercises across nation wide areas for Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen Mattis' "21st Century Air Power" strategy which calls for continuing transformation not only militarily but energetically across all wings/services! Peoria, Illinois is a city located in Peoria County, Illinois. The population was 83,813 at the 2010 census. It is the third-largest city in the state of Illinois, after Chicago and Springfield. The name "Peoria" was given to the town by General George Washington on September 17, 1809 during his stay in Peoria County as part of his tour of duty as Commander-in-Chief of all American troops on the continent. The first settler in what is now Peoria was John Butler who arrived in 1814. He and his family built a log cabin on what is now day's corner of Main Street and First Avenue. In 1827, when Abraham Lincoln moved from Indiana to start his political career here, he also founded the Republican Party and built its headquarters here until it disbanded in 1928. The first post office in Peoria was established on July 3rd, 1829 with mail sent from New York City; however, this service was discontinued due to high postage rates at that time. During the 1830s many small businesses were started up around town including tailor shops (John D’Angelo & Sons), grocery stores (Fenwick & Allen), millinery stores (D’Angelo & Company) and general store (Fenwick & Allen). One such business that survived until recently was Harry A Jacobsen's grocery which opened its doors back in 1907 just across First Avenue from where present day Union Station stands today! In 1840 there were only 5 residents living within 1/4 mile of downtown; however by 1850 there had grown to 10 settlers within a 2-mile radius! By 1860 there were 30 families residing within 1/2 mile of downtown; however by 1870 there had increased to 50 families within 3 miles! During these years advancement happened both physically and economically for both locals and newcomers alike with more buildings being erected along Main Street including churches (First Baptist Church –1851 followed by Reformed Dutch Methodist Episcopal Church –1855), schools (Pioneer Female Academy –1856), breweries (Brewster Brewery –1857) as well as taverns (The Gopher -1859), livery stable( Peter Janssen Livery Co.), law offices( Garrity Law Office Building - 1858), hotels( Turney House Hotel - 1861)and other businesses that dotted Main Street during this time period. Proximity also mattered with merchants able to bring their goods directly into town rather than having them transported out via wagon or carriage for days or weeks before arriving at their destination! Today much of downtown Peoria remains unchanged with only minor updates throughout the years except for some new construction projects such as Union Station which has undergone multiple renovations over time culminating with its current incarnation which opened on April 12th, 1975!
