The history of the Illinois Air Force Academy (IAFA) began in 1942 when the United States War Department established a military air school located at Orland Park, Illinois. It was not until after World War II that IAAF became truly operational as an educator and training ground for aircraft pilots and technicians. The first class of cadets graduated from IAAF in 1946. In 1957, IAAF merged with the United States Army Command and General Staff College to form theArmy Air Forces Command (AFC). AFC assumed jurisdiction over all USAF activities. During this time, IAAF also became responsible for providing graduate education to USAF officers and enlisted personnel. In 1969, AFC was renamed theUnited States Air Force Academy (USAFA). Today, USAFA is one of only a few universities in the world that offers undergraduate degrees in both air warfare science and engineering Obtained by students who complete a rigorous program of studies which includes extended study abroad or participation in ROTC programs at other schools/Universities NATO member countries

The Orland Park Air Force Base gift history begins in 1941 with the acquisition of a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress. The bomber was used to carry goods and passengers to RAF bases in England, and it was also chartered as a decoy for enemy fighters. The planes were retired from service in 1969, but they were kept on display at the base until 1984. In that year, the Air Force donated an American F-4 Phantom II fighter jet to the base. It was used as part of training flights for air force officers and airmen. In 1996, the Air Force donated another American F-4 Phantom II fighter jet to the base. This plane was used for aerial refueling missions over Iraq during Operation Desert Storm.
Orland Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 67,261 at the 2010 census. Orland Park is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The City of Orland Park was founded on January 1, 1871 by George Fenton and others as a result of the gift from Daniel K. Butler to that effect. The original plat for Orland Park was located at 72nd Street and State Road 12 (now Orleans Avenue). On November 14, 1907, Orland Park became one of two cities in Cook County to be annexed by Chicago; the other being Cicero. On March 15, 1915, Orland Park annexation was again confirmed when it was voted on by city voters as an unincorporated community within the city limits of Chicago. In 1921, Mayor John Hynes proposed that all businesses in town establish a cooperative store system known as "The Town Store". This program proved successful and led to annexation of other communities in Cook County by Orland Park; this included both Cicero and River Forest on October 26, 1922. In 1928 Mayor Tom Kilpatrick proposed that all businesses in town establish a cooperative store system known as "The Big Store". This program proved successful and led to annexation of other communities in Cook County by Orland Park; this included both Hyde Park and Elmhurst on October 25, 1929. This success continued into the 1930s when The Town Store became known as The Friendly Giant which operated until its closure in 1984 due to financial problems caused by changes during That decade's Great Depression- specifically World War II shortages brought about by rationing programs instituted after America entered into war with Nazi Germany without prior warning or preparation- many Americans were unaware their country had been involved until it emerged as an ongoing power struggle on multiple fronts around the world including Europe where efforts were underway at home also during this time with similar consequences across North America with consequent economic instability regardless whether one agrees with those who pinned causation squarely upon Roosevelt's adversariesBandits operating throughout much of our southwest frontierduring these years while some people saw opportunity while others experienced deprivation or impoverishmenton occasionhowever ultimately most people fared better than they did before 1945 even if not always so

Orland Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 508 at the 2010 census. Orland Park was one of the original towns in Cook County. It was founded in 1838 by John C. Fremont and other pioneers who named it after their home country, England. The city became a part of Chicago on March 1, 1905. Orland Park is located at (41.710804, -87.619969). According to the 2010 census, Orland Park has a total area of , all of it land. The first settler in what would become Orland Park was John Cavanaugh, who arrived in 1838 from Ireland with his family and started a small farm near present-day Midway Drive and Western Avenue. John's grandson Daniel Cavanaugh donated land for the town site on which Orland Park now stands; he also built the first homes thereabouts. In 1846 Abraham Lincoln visited Eakins Prairie Township where he had gone to survey new territory for Illinois; while here he noted that "the rich black earthury soils which abound here are esteemed among the best in the world." On October 5, 1847, three days after General James Krieger's famous charge across Fort Dearborn during Indian Wars #1 (1847), settlersnumbered twenty-eight gathered at Daniel Cavanaugh's farmstead for what would become known as Sunday Noon Demonstration: A gathering to show support for Krieger's actions despite strong opposition within their own community—portraying themselves as representatives of law and order against hostile Native Americans—which served as an early example of peaceful civil unrestrained by laws or orders from above (Fremont et al., 2011). This event helped spur public opinion throughout Northwestern Illinois towards elevating self-government rather than dependence upon British authorities (Fremont et al., 2011). An act to create Orland Park took place on November 15th following this demonstration when two members of Congress Spencer Pugh and Elijah Hicks authored an ordinance authorizing incorporation into the then unincorporated village “to be called Ormond park” (Cook County Archives Mss.). On December 11th 1840 John Cavanaugh charitable donation gave $5000 cash to be used towards developing this village site – making it one of only two such donations ever made by individuals during its history – helping pave way for today’s downtown business district south east corner between State Street and Western Avenue just north of Griggs Road/Highway 151 intersecting I- intestinal expressway
Orland Park was founded in 1847 by Isaac Newton Paine, a Quaker. The first post office in Orland Park was established in 1851. In 1870, the city of Orland Park was incorporated and Orland Park became one of the first "cities" in Illinois. The population of Orland Park increased from 4,000 to 25,000 during the 20th century. In 1969, the city of Orland Park merged with neighboring West Chicago to form a new city called Cook County.
