Oak Forest is a small town located in the far southwest corner of Illinois. The population was 6,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Oak Forest's rich coffee history began with two men who started roasting beans on their family farm in 1892. In 1916, Harry Kugel and his brother-in-law, Willard Schultz founded First National Coffee in Oak Park, Ill., which became one of the largest coffee companies in the world. Kugel and Schultz were also instrumental in developing Oak Forest into a major coffee producer and retailer. In 1923, Third World Coffee was founded by John Aiken and Frank Jaffe in an effort to improve quality standards for international coffee shipments. Third World Coffee soon became one of the most successful independent coffee companies in America. Over time, Third World Coffee developed a powerful marketing presence within American society and became a leading player in both local grocery stores and commercial cafés throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. In 1971, Third World Coffee merged with Brazil's Companhia Brasileira de Harbinger (CBH) to form General Foods Corporation (GFC). From then until its sale to Kraft Foods Incorporated (KFT) in 1997, GFC was one of America's most important food processors and retailers. The heyday of Third World Coffee coincided with some significant changes within American society that had a significant impact on coffee production and consumption: 1) The end of prohibition made it easier for people to buy legal recreational drugs; 2)The rise in women’s education led more women than ever before to become involved with running families; 3)Changes within social class caused greater differentiation among American consumers; 4) Urban sprawl led to increased demand for farmland near large cities; 5)American farmers began growing larger crops such as maize, wheat, rice, soybeans—all of which required more land—and this new land inspired both innovation from farmers themselves as well as investment from outside investors interested in acquiring this valuable property

The earliest evidence of espresso being brewed comes from an ancient Italian text known as the Venerable Bede's Ecclesiastical History of England. In this document, it is mentioned that in 753 AD monks at a monastery in Rome used water heated by an oven to make espresso. It wasn't until the late 18th century that scientists began to study the bean and develop ways to roast and brew coffee using different techniques.
Oak Forest is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,554 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village was organized on February 14, 1871, and named for General John F. Oakley. It was first settled by German immigrants who had come to America in 1849 and 1851 as workmen on the Illinois Central Railroad. The settlement grew steadily from its nominal size of fifty-six people in 1871 to 1,500 by 1900; when the railroad burned down in 1904, much of the town ceased to exist and only a few buildings remain today. In later years most of what is now Oak Forest took form as satellites around larger towns such as Streamwood or Elmhurst (both located south of Oak Forest). However, there are some clear distinctions between these satellite villages: while Elmhurst became an all- black community after integration in 1964 while Streamwood features a wide variety of housing types ranging from single-family homes to assisted living facilities and multiplexes, both have remained largely white through their histories. Today Oak Forest remains one of the most ethnically diverse villages within Cook County with a population that ranges from Poles to Latinos and Native Americans including more than twenty tribes affiliated with various federally recognized First Nations groups across eight reservations located within Cook County proper - making it one of only four villages wholly composed or partly composed of indigenous peoples in Illinois (the others being Kaneeland Park Village near Chicago Heights/Lakeside Village near South Holland), along with Arlington Heights (formerly Hinsdale), Winnetka Heights (formerly Winnetka) and Evanston Township's Wood Dale which also includes parts of Skokie and Aurora neighborhoods inside Lakeview Township limits. One significant minority group represented here are African Americans who account for almost 20% (or 7 out of every 100)of total village residents age 25+ according to2010 federal Census figures; this number has gradually grown since 2000 when African American representation peaked at 31%.
Oak Forest was founded in 1847 by Samuel K. Oak and his wife, Lucy. The town was named for the oak tree that stands at the center of town. The first post office in Oak Forest was established in 1851. In 1861, the town became a village and in 1865, it became a city. In 1898, Oak Forest became an agricultural center and during World War I, the city manufactured munitions. After the war ended, the city's economy shifted to agriculture and manufacturing until the arrival of new businesses in the late 1990s which caused Oak Forest's population to decline over time
