O'Fallon is a small town in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. O'Fallon's history begins with early settler John Daly who arrived in 1829. He platted what is now O'Fallon Township on land that he and his wife, Sarah, purchased from the Ottawa chief and his band of warriors during a cattle drive through the area. In 1829-30, John Daly built a log cabin near present day Elmwood Park in honor of his wife's father-in-law who had died eleven years earlier while hunting by the same spot. In 1831, John Daly married Josephine McNamara and moved to O'Fallon from very rural Kane County where he had resided for many years before becoming a farmer. Josephine McNamara was born in Ireland and immigrated to America when she was just sixteen; her parents were also immigrants. They first settled in Kane County but soon left there because of poor soil quality and harsh weather conditions there. They then moved to O'Fallon where they operated a farm until their death in 1912. After their deaths, their children continued to run the farm until it went out of business around 1960s due to advancements in tractor technology which made farming more efficient than ever before! In 1840, territorial government was organized under US Government auspices with Illinois being allocated as its own colony within Indian Territory - an arrangement that did not last long as Native Americans began hostilities against US settlers throughout much of North America (becoming known as "the Sioux War"). On March 20th 1840 – one week after General David Dixon's Expedition discoveredIllinois on October 12th – United States forces burned down two villages belonging to the Wyandot tribe located east of present day Prairie du Chien along Wisconsin River: Montreal (now West Side) Village and East Potawatomi Village ((Red Cloud Reservation)). A few days later on April 9th 1840 another village called Miami village was destroyed by Ulysses S Grant near what is now Rogers Mills (northwest corner ofpresent day Ottawa). When asked about this event by members of Congress during hearings into the Indian Removal Act these days it’s difficult not to speculate why so many villages were destroyed; some have suggested that Grant may have been motivated by revenge for earlier losses suffered at the hands of Indians at Battle Of The Little Bighorn or perhaps simply seeking retribution for American interventions across much of North America since 1775! Whatever the reason(s), this particular attack on Indigenous villages created significant public sentiment against American aggression towards Native Americans throughout much Western Canada/North America for well over two decades! Unfortunately for those living west of Quebec City during this time period… The following year saw even greater violence erupt when Ulysses S Grant captured Ft Michigan Destruction Squad leader Black Hawk Saucerman Chief Tecumseh While Operating His vessel “Tecumseh” off Point State Beach approximately 25 miles northeast OF St Paul MN & Washed ashore July 10th 1850 Just north shore Of Lake Superior National Wildlife Refuge… both men were immediately put on trial & found guilty resulting In Their sentence Of 7 Years Hard labor At White Sulphur Springs State Penitentiary where they Died December 25th 1852″ It wasn’t until 1862 when General George Armstrong Custer fought his final battle against Sitting Bull (& 5 other Lakota Sioux Chiefs) northwest of Mount Rushmore National Monument – an engagement considered oneOf The bloodiest such confrontations between white man & native group ever ! Aftermathsaw large numbersof Dakotas & Minnesotans displaced southward across state lines w/o any form o refuge or homes !!ozone changes accompanyingcivilian population growth rates associated w/urban sprawl!! Today we enjoy excellent accessTo natural resources thanks To infrastructure projects financed By dedicate fundingFrom Both public&private sectors !!! Today O’Fallon contains several businesses including three banks, four grocery stores, two post offices, six restaurants including five Italian restaurants and one Barbecue restaurant; twenty-six churches affiliated with nine denominations; fifteen schools; four parks including one full size park named after late Mayor James Haggerty; three golf courses administered by Kendall Golf Course Management Company.; three Masonic lodges including Lodge #2 which has been operating since 1923 adjacent To Union Depot Train Station !!! And quite importantly there are still plentyof people here working hard every single day making sure our community continuesto thrive!
