Smith on October 15, 1838 from John Sibley at the gunsmith’s shop located on Main Street. The pistol was part of a batch of guns that were confiscated during the time of the American Civil War and are now stored at Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. On December 7, 1861, George Washington hand-carved an early version of what is now known as the “George Washington Model 1851 revolver” for private individual purchase. The revolver was manufactured by Eli Whitney and is still being produced today. On November 14, 1907, Mayor Emanuel Daley announced plans to build a new city hall in Northbrook. The cornerstone for the city hall was laid on July 26th, 1908 and it opened its doors to the public on September 10th, 1910.
