Artisan coffee is a term that has been around for decades and has come to be associated with certain regions of the United States. The first coffee shop in North Chicago was established in 1892 by James Fenton and his brother, William. The business was called the Coffee House and it served coffee, hot chocolate, and lemonade. In 1916, Harry Hays opened the Phoenix Coffee House on State Street. This business became one of the most popular in North Chicago. In 1931, Harry Hays’ son-in-law, Elmer Barnes bought the Phoenix Coffee House and renamed it The Cafe de la Marche. The cafe continued to serve quality coffee until 1979 when it closed its doors for good.

North Chicago is a city in the northwest corner of Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 115,846 at the 2010 census. Heading north fromwinged by scores of Buffalo Soldiers under Custer's command upriver on October 15th – 16th1847 – he encountered and skirmished with Native American forces led by Black Hawk Chief Potawatomi leader Hennepinillus Kane at Prairie du Chien before eventually hitting Indian country near Washington Township south of I-94 about 36 miles (54 km) west-northwest of Chicago proper. A few days later he destroyed all but 10 buildings on Big Muddy Creek within 100 yards (91 m) or soof Fort Dearborn; this action has been called “theraid” because no Americans were killed or injured in this engagement A treaty signed December 14th 1847 between Ulysses S Grant and Tecumseh Sherman ended hostilities between Indians and whites throughout Northwestern America; thus NAPAs remained unbroken until directly following American Civil War when newly organized Missouri Volunteers attacked and destroyed many village sites east/northeast Kansas City MO

North Chicago is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 68,171 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Cook County by population and the second-largest city in Illinois after Chicago. The first permanent settler in what would become North Chicago was John Goodrich who arrived in 1825 from Michigan Territory. Goodrich erected a cabin on the site of present day Midway Park and named his settlement "NorthChicago." By 1852, NorthChicago had a population of 10,000 people; it ballooned to more than 100,000 by 1860 thanks to waves of European immigrants that streamed into northcentral Illinois following the American Civil War. During this time period many important events took place in northcentral Illinois that have shaped contemporarynorthChicago culture including: the opening of Rock Island Railroad lines through northcentral IL creating new economic opportunities for residents; prohibition becoming an official US policy via President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation; Chicagos incorporation as a municipality making it easier for northerners to obtain residency; Prohibition being repealed by Governor Al Capone during his administration; African Americans starting working outside their homes beginning an integration process which lasted until towards the end of World War II when they were finally granted civil rights by America's new president Franklin D. Roosevelt . Many residents from northcentral Illinois relocated southward during Prohibition years because there were no other opportunities available to them within their home state or across state lines given thenational prohibition laws governing alcohol sales within each individual states boundaries at that time (this changed following repeal). After Prohibition ended many people returned back home while others started businesses elsewhere (mainly east coast towns) providing jobs for those that left during prohibition years. Today northeast North Chicago remains one of America’s most ethnically diverse cities with sizeable Arab/Muslim communities along Wacker Drive and near Dearborn Road

North Chicago was first settled by Native Americans in the late 18th century. The area now known as NorthChicago was ceded to the United States in 1835, and it became a part of Cook County in 1848. The city of Chicago was founded in 1847, and North Chicago became a part of the city on April 12, 1860. The city was renamed Chicago on August 15, 1960.
