Gun gift history in Normal, Illinois began with the purchase of a revolver by George W. Hemenway on November 6, 1857. The gun would be the family’s first firearm and it would serve as their primary means of protection until the acquisition of a rifle in 1865. The next significant purchase was made on December 15, 1859, when William Fenton purchased a single-action Smith and Wesson revolver from Samuel Colt for $75. This purchase helped to establish Normal as an important center for pistol ownership in Illinois. Between 1861 and 1865, Normal saw an increase in firearm purchases due to the increased violence at the hands of local militias and Confederate soldiers. On April 20th, 1865,Normal residents voted to accept Union military draft calls and became members of the Union army. This event marked the end ofgun gift history in Normal.

Normal, Illinois is a town in Sangamon County, Illinois, United States. The population was 3,878 at the 2010 census. Normal is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1837 as a post office and trading ground for settlers who had come overland from Kentucky and other parts of the Old Northwest Territory. In 1846 it became the county seat of Sangamon County after being chosen by citizens from among several hundred towns east of Warsaw Township on the north side of the Sangamon River. Normal grew steadily through annexation by other counties until its incorporation as a municipal borough in 1903. As a result of two World Wars and an economic downturn in the 1990s, Normal lost some residents but has continued to grow economically and currently has a population of over 4,000 people. Normal's unique culture can be seen in its architecture which features Art Deco Revival-style buildings built between 1915 and 1927; this style is also often called "normal." This type of architecture is generally associated with large city dwellers who were uninterested in using more modern designs orstyles that would have been available to them if they lived closer to larger urban areas (this exception being suburban housing developments such as Elmhurst). The most famous structure here is probably Normandie Hall, which was built in 1925 as an annex to what was then Sangamon University. It now houses the Allison School District's library branch and many administrative offices for local government including those for school districts within Sangamon County as well as village councils throughout Cook County. Some residents continue their traditions even after moving away from normal or leaving because there are few places else like it where they can go back into their community roots. These residents are called "Normans" or "Normanites." They usually maintain close ties with their surrounding communities even when living far away from them geographically or socially due to shared cultural experiences, commonalities (such as language), or similar interests (e.g., music). normanites@aol dot com

Normal is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 25,806 at the 2010 census. It is the third-largest town in Illinois after Chicago and Oak Forest. Normal was founded on December 15, 1836 by Capt. John J.normal and Capt. Fenton Wagoner as the home of a military post known as Fort Normal on the present site of Chicagoland Park; it was only temporary until 1838 when it became normal for traders to establish permanent settlements there. The first white settlers were Nathan Sheffer and his family from New York City who arrived in 1840; they brought with them their own churches and schools which grew into major towns in their area: Sheffield (1841), Northbrook (1843), Riverdale (1845), Grayslake (1848), Lawndale (1850). In 1855,Normal became an city with a population of 20,000 people under Mayor John A. Kelly; however, because most of its citizens lived near the downtown core where businesses thrived and transportation connections were poor, Normal mostly declined during this period as Chicago's growth increased traffic through its new neighborhoods while Normal stagnated or even declined economically. By 1870, most residents within a 2-mile radius of downtown had left for better opportunities elsewhere so that Normal again attained its previous size as a small rural community without many important services available to its constituents other than shopping at local stores or visiting friends and relatives within 1-2 miles away . However by 1890 when crime rates began to increase rapidly throughout Cook County due largely to Rapid migration from rural areas towards large cities such as Chicago - especially along north shore arterial streets -Normandy experienced rapid growth once again becoming one of the top 5 largest towns in Cook County by 1900 with over 50 inhabitants living primarily inside its boundaries which included almost all business districts including Downtown Core In 1916Normal merged with neighboring Riverview Village to form what would become Loop Community College District No 1 Norwalk Township annexed Normal in 1925 making it part of Norwood Township - adding another suburban township like Arlington Heights which annexed Villa Park following World War II - but there never really was much change taking place outside those two villages until after 1959 when Interstate 95 bypassed both villages forming today's Loop I-95 corridor through bothvillages effectively severing their connection On September 30th 1998 Norma Community School District #1 closed operations due to lack of support from parents who elected not to send their children off to private schools following revelations about district corruption culminating in state takeover that same year although school operations continue today under provisional charter status
