Air Force deployed gift history in Mount Prospect, Illinois began in 1945 when the United States Air Forces activated the 1st Bombardment Wing at Osage Hills Air Force Base. The wing was equipped with B-29 bombers and became known as the "1st Bomber Wing" because it was the first unit to fly combat missions over Japan during World War II. The wing flew its first mission on December 15, 1945, from RAF Mildenhall in England. It served as part of General Curtis LeMay's strategic bombing force that were responsible for precision attacks on Japanese targets throughout the war. The 1st BW also bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki in atomic bombings which killed more than 200,000 people. Inactivated in 1948, the wing's assets were reassigned to other units and it no longer had any operational responsibility for bombers. However, it continued to be stationed at Osage Hills until 1959 when it relocated to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio where it remained until 1976 when it was moved again - this time back to Mount Prospect. Today, 1st Bomber Wing remains an active component of USAF Reserve Command whose mission isto provide a global air defense umbrella against potential threats through Operation Inherent Resolve. The wing has a museum located adjacent to Wright-Patterson AFB dedicated to its history and operations; as well as a flying exhibition facility located within Wright-Patterson AFB that tours regularly by helicopter providing unique insight into how bomber aircraft work and their impact on warfare around the world today.

Mount Prospect, Illinois is a small town located in the west side of Chicago. The population was 9,453 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Mount Prospect was founded on May 12, 1836 by David Rice and his brother-in-law, Isaac Lyon. The community was named for General Arthur Storrs (1784-1864), who commanded a brigade in the Mexican War and served as United States Minister to Spain from 1846 to 1848. The first store in Mount Prospect was built on North Pulaski Street. A post office was established in 1840 and remained in operation until it closed in 1896. In 1842, an agricultural fair was held at Mount Prospect and attracted many farmers from Illinois and neighboring states. The fairgrounds are still used today for various events including concerts and rodeo competitions. In 1847, president James Kinsley donated land for a Masonic temple which would serve as the stomping ground of America's first lodge of Freemasons – Washington Lodge No. 8 (F&A). The building now stands across the street from Mount Prospect High School along West Adams Avenue. In 1865, local residents voted to name their community after George Washington because he had been so instrumental in their development as a small town during his lifetime. In 1870, two years after George Washington's death, voters approved plans to erect a new courthouse on what is now State Street near Park Avenue South within sight of Mt prospect High School. Construction began soon after but stopped due to financial difficulties; however, portion of the building still remains today with offices belonging to both the County Clerk’s Office and Cook County Circuit Court which opened its doors on October 1st 1902 . On December 5th 1907 electorially defining day following passage of referendum authorizing annexation by Cook County of all or any part (north)of McLean Township became effective Mt prospect became one municipality with village status under existing laws governing village form & function etc., subject only theretoto special charter authorizing acquisition by [Cook]County through annexation proceedings authorized hereinbelow . Attorney General Francis Bogan issued an order dated February 2nd 1908 ordering that all unincorporated areas east of Halsted Street be annexed into City Limits before March 3rd 1908 when annexation proceedings were set for that date; this order caused much controversy between Mayor William Whitehead & Attorney General Bogan because Whitehead claimed that such annexation would give city rights over unincorporated areas without voter approval thereby violating federal law ; ultimately this order was rescinded upon Mayor Whitehead's refusal to allow such an unconstitutional incorporation without voter approval . By 1912 there were over 100'000 people living within city limits while less than 10% lived inside villages or outside organized municipalities

Mount Prospect is a village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,856 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The Village of Mount Prospect was organized on November 1, 1847 by a group of Scots-Irish immigrants who had come to America looking for a better life. The name "Mount Prospect" honored their ancestor Morrison Heights (now Elmhurst). The first post office opened in Mount Prospect on November 7, 1848. The town site was surveyed by Daniel Davenport and David Underwood and built on what is now the north side of present day Mount Prospect Road. A general store, schoolhouse and stable were built in about 1850; but it wasn't until 1857 that the first sawmill started operations and led to the eventual growth of this city today. In 1868, George Stephenson designed and built an electric locomotive named "Electra", which ran on power from three large coal mines located just east of town. This locomotive helped start what would become one of Chicago's most prestigious neighborhoods: Mayfair! In 1916, when World War I began, many residents decided to stay put because they didn't believe that war would bring anything good for them other than more poverty and unemployment. However, within two years after mobilization began there was an influx of people into Mount Prospect as businesses opened up all over the city due to wartime demand for materials such as iron ore and aluminum products. At its peak in 1918 there were over 350 businesses operating in Mount prospect with 4500 residents! When the war ended there were only 10 businesses left open while 500 people still lived in poverty! Today mount prospect has slowly recovered with new development taking place along with both positive and negative aspects including increased crime rates which have forced some people out Of town again however overall it is experiencing an increase in business activity
Mount Prospect is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,912 at the 2010 census. The Village of Mount Prospect was organized on May 12, 1868, from part of the Town of Mt. Prospect. The first town meeting was held on July 1, 1867. The village started out as a small farming community with about seventy people and two stores. By 1870, the number of residents had increased to 350 and the businesses were larger: a grocery store and post office opened in 1870; a blacksmith shop opened in 1871; a hotel opened in 1872; and a sawmill opened in 1876. In 1880, there were five stores and twelve homes. In 1916-17, Mount Prospect voters passed an ordinance that allowed for building of high schools within ten miles of the village limits. On November 7th 1917 (the date now commemorated as "Village Day"), the first high school class graduated from Mount Prospect High School after several years of hard work by teachers and students alike. That same year also saw construction start on what would become Masonic Hall which became operational in 1922 when it replaced an earlier hall that burned down in 1906 The electrical grid went live here on October 24th 1955
