Morton Grove, Illinois is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 24,088 at the 2010 census. It is the home of Morton Grove High School and Morton Grove Elementary School. The core of Morton Grove is located in the east-central part of town. Some of its outlying neighborhoods are also included within the town limits. The first settlers in what would become Morton Grove were John and Rebecca Cook who arrived on a farmstead near present day Mundelein Road and South Western Avenue on November 15, 1814. They were followed by their children Samuel (1815), Lucy (1817), George (1820), Rebecca (1822). The first house built in what would become Morton Grove was built by Solomon Parsons on a lot north of present day North Washington Street/Route 611. In 1825 John Aiken bought the land from Solomon Parsons and moved to his new home which he named "Iuka" after Iuka, Mississippi Territory where he had been raised as a Methodist minister before moving to America. In 1830 Elijah Porter purchased 4 acres south of present day West Washington Street from John Aiken for $200 dollars which became known as Porter's Prairie because it lay next to that location when it was surveyed for future development by Prentiss & Hennepin County Commissioners Jacobus Prentiss and Ebenezer Hennepin with help from map maker Joseph Nicollet.. In 1834 Elijah Porter's son Reuben purchased 3 more acres from James Jenson for $100 dollars which became known as Deerfield after Reuben's father deer hunting excursions with Capt Elisha Deering that took place thereabouts during winter months around 1800-01 or 1800s... Today only 1 acre remains undeveloped adjacent to Deerfield Cemetery across Walnut Creek where Elijah Porter lived until his death circa 1870... After Elijah Porter's death his wife Esther sold 3 additional acres northeast of the cemetery including what would eventually be called Northeast Elmwood Drive adjoining Pershing Road to Dr George Barnett who resided there until his death circa 1915... After Dr George Barnett's death Green family purchases additional 2 acres along Elmwood Drive southeast of Pershing Road from Dr Harry Norton who died in 1938; this parcel became known as East Garfield Park Most historians agree that early settlers to Morton Grove likely came principally from neighboring Decatur County due to its close proximity and many people living near each other throughout those years making transportation difficult if not impossible so colonists coming into villages such as Iuka must have either walked or taken horseback rides overland through rugged terrain much like we do today visit rural areas across state lines without any form Of public transportation

Morton Grove is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 15,179 at the 2010 census. Morton Grove is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. It is named after Captain Amos Morton who, with his family and others, founded Morton Grove in 1819. Morton Grove was laid out in 1824 by Captain Amos Morton and his family. The first settler in what would become Morton Grove was John Fenton who arrived in 1825. A year later, Isaac Hanks set up a small farm on what would become Park Avenue. In 1830, Samuel Dickson purchased land from Fenton and started to settle it into homes. By 1840, all of Morton Grove had been platted and about 100 people lived there including 30 farmers and their families. In 1847-48 the Illinois legislature passed an act that designated Randolph Township as the new location for Morton Grove which then became one of the most heavily populated areas of Cook County due to its fertile soil and easy access to commerce via Lake Michigan Boulevard (now State Street). This development led to a rapid increase in population throughout early – mid 19th century Morton Grove as residents moved here for both economic opportunities (manufacturing) and political reasons (the township’s location near McCormick Place made it convenient for business meetings). The strong economy attracted more settlers during this time; however many businesses were destroyed or damaged by fire while still open during the Great Chicago Fire of1871 which devastated much of downtown Chicago causing mass deportations of residents living northward on Ridge Road - leaving behind neighborhoods such as Arlington Heights & Wheaton with few if any traces remaining today beyond some striking architecture examples like Wheaton’s Zion Presbyterian Church built between 1865-68 following designs by local architect George Biddlecombe
