The unit was called the "Morton Grove Volunteer Coast Guard" and it served until 1875. On February 5, 1903, the first station located in Morton Grove was opened. It was called the "Niles Beach Station". In 1925, a new station was built in Glenview and it became known as the "Glenview Park Station". On October 1, 1941, the Chicago coast guard detachment headquartered at North Avenue and Western Boulevard moved to its present location at West Side Drive and Wabash Street. In 1970, a new station was built in Grayslake and it became known as the "Grayslake Park Station". On May 16, 1978, another stationwas opened in Hinsdale and it became known as the "Hinsdale Park Station".
Morton Grove, Illinois is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 22,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first Europeans to explore Morton Grove were French traders and travelers who arrived in 1795. They named the township after their friend and mentor Pierre-Antoine de La Salle, Sieur de Morton. The first permanent settler in Morton Grove was John Addison who bought land on the west side of Kedzie Avenue betweenState Street and Pulaski Road in 1814. Addison's nephew Anthony sold him more property on Kedzie Avenue in 1825. In 1837, Augustus Kelley purchased two tracts of land from John Addison east of State Street; this made Morton Grove an incorporated village." In 1892, Morton Grove was merged with neighboring Westchester Township to form Uptown Township. In 1922, Uptown Township was renamed Elmhurst Township after its founder Julius Rosenwald and his family's estate thereabouts which had been bought by him as a gift from his father-in-law Moses Levy." On July 16th, 1961 mundanity (a hard rock band) played at Arlington Gardens Park Amphitheater for what would be their last show before disbanding due to poor health. There has never been another Mundanity show since then not just because they disbanded but also because they only played one show each year while keeping up with touring schedule except for 1990 when they only played one show per year due to health reasons
