In 1819, DEIC granted a monopoly on production and trade in Java for six years to a consortium of Dutch businessmen led by Hendrik de Vlaming. In 1830, maga coffee was exported to British India under the terms of the Treaty of Canning. After independence was granted to Indonesia in 1949, maga coffee became an important part of Indonesian cuisine.
Morris was a small town in Cook County, Illinois from 1851 to 1907. It is now a ghost town and its only remaining structure is the Morris Post Office building located on the corner of Maple and South streets. The post office closed in 1907, but still stands as a historical landmark. If you were to walk down Elm Street in Morris, you would come across an old cotton gin that used to stand there. When it was built, it was one of the first cotton gins in America. It operated until 1937. Additionally, you can find an old schoolhouse that was also built around 1851. It currently serves as a museum inside of the school house itself. Lastly, if you were to go down North Main Avenue in Morris, you would come across an old blacksmith shop which still stands today! That business originally operated from 1875-1937.
Morris was founded in 1827 by John Morris and his wife, Nancy. The town was named after John Morris' ancestor, David Morris. The first store in the town was built on the corner of State Street and Fifth Avenue. In 1830, the United States Post Office was established in Morris and it remains operational to this day. In 1836, the Township of Morris was organized and it continues to exist today as a separate municipality. The first township meeting took place on February 12th, 1836. By 1840, there were six stores in the township with a population of just fifty-six people. By 1850, there were thirteen stores with a population of two thousand four hundred people. In 1865, the railroad arrived in Morris and within a few years it had madeMorris an important commercial center. By 1870, Morriss had thirty-eight businesses and its population had reached five thousand people
