The USAF was created as a result of the National Defense Act of 1946 and it was through this act that Congress authorized the president to establish an air force. In 1949, Congress amended the National Defense Authorization Act to create a Continental Air Command (CAC) and within CAC were two wings: the Strategic Air Command (SAC) and Tactical Air Command (TAC). Within SAC were three commands: Bombardment, Transport and Training (BTT), and Communications Center-East (CCC-E). In 1951, SAC was redesignated as Aerospace Forces Command (AFC). The AFC was divided into numbered aerospace divisions which were in turn divided into fighter groups. Fighter groups were also assigned bomber squadronrons which provided airlift services. These assignments changed little until 1957 when TAC became tactical command authority for all members of SAC except fighter wings. On 1 October 1961, TAC became operational as Unified Tactical Air Command under Headquarters USAF. On 16 September 1962, Headquarters USAF transferred from Wright Field, Ohio to MacDill AFB, Florida which made headquarterslocation permanent at Fort Worth AFB Texas effective 1 October 1962 The first major acquisition by HQ USAF was the Boeing 707-422 Constellation aircraft on 15 May 1958 From 1 October 1962 until 31 December 1992 HQ USAF activated/deactivated 4 separate commands: Aerospace Operations Commands Supervision & Control; Intelligence Gathering & Historiographical Services; Weather Prediction Service; Aeronautical Systems Commands Combat Crew Training Directorate; Missile Weapons Directorate HQ USAFActivated Commander - General Curtis LeMay HQ USAFDeactivated Commander - General Curtis LeMay on 31 December 1992

Melrose Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 21,548 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Melrose Park was first settled in 1836 by English-born Americans who had emigrated from Dorchester County, England. The name comes from a maple tree near where the village stands today. The Village of Melrose Park was organized on December 3, 1868 when four square miles (10 km2) of land north and east of the city of Chicago were annexed to the City of Chicago. On January 1, 1889, the village became one block charter with a population of 611 residents when it annexed another square mile (1 km2) to its south and west. In 1909, an additionalsquaremile (4 km2) were annexed to form what is now Northwest Side Extended Community District No. 2A which had a population of 10,000 people as well as control over all public utilities within that newly created district including water and sewer systems for both villages as well as electric lights and streetcars). In 1956 Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company moved its headquarters from Chicago to Melrose Park after being founded in 1865 by banker John Wirtz Sr.. That same year also saw the opening of Northwestern Mutual's first store in what is now known as Northland Center mall across State Street from downtownChicago (). Northwestern Mutual would later move its headquarters back to downtown Chicago but continue operations out of their original building until 1993 when they closed their doors forever after going bankrupt (). On October 17th 1886 James Jenssen founded Jenssen Brothers ice cream parlor on West Addison Avenue in present day Daley Plaza which remains one of America's most popular food retailers despite having been around since 1886 (). After World War II various businesses such as Sears Roebuck & Co., IHOP restaurants and Sam's Club replaced small stores like Jenssen Brothers with larger chains but none could take away Jenssen Brothers' customers or keep up with changes in fashion or taste that came about during that time period called "The Age Of Technology." In 1984 Danny Meyer bought out his brother Ron Meyer's interest in Jenssen Brothers so that Danny could operate everything under One dimensional Productions banner starting with just two locations-one easton avenue location(now Dempster Place) and one weston avenue location(now Kress Convention Center). By 1996 Onedimensional Productions had opened more than 130 stores throughout North America under many different banners including Federated Department Stores ()
