Cup of Joe's Coffee House has been in business since 1892. The coffee house is a popular tourist spot for locals and visitors alike, with its rich history and brewing traditions. Today, Cup of Joe's Coffee House remains a cherished gathering place for people from all over the Midwest. The first coffee house in Mchenry was established in 1892 by Captain John Hickey. The coffee house was named after Joseph Smith, Jr., the founder of the LDS Church. At that time, Mchenry was a small farming town located about 20 miles north of Chicago on the banks of the Illinois River. Captain Hickey soon realized that he needed to provide his customers with high quality coffee if he were to remain successful. He began brewing his own beans and selling them direct to his customers. In 1896, Captain Hickey opened up Cup of Joe's Coffee House on Main Street in Mchenry. The coffeehouse quickly became one of the most popular tourist spots in town. The cup at which we now enjoy our morning joe is originally made from an asylum purchased by Captain Hickey back in 1896 for $10 per tun (about $2 per pound today). This Asylum must have been quite an undertaking - it had to be built very large due to the number of patients who required treatment at that time! By 1898, however, captain Hickey had managed to secure enough funding from investors to build himself a more modern cup manufacturing plant located just east of town on State Road 516 (now US-3). From here on out things got really interesting at Cup Of Joe's! brewmaster Al Capone personally furnished all of the cups used during World War II! And as you can see from our pictures and story below, even after years being around such unique drinks as this...the place still looks pretty great! In addition to its world-famous cups and delicious baked goods,...Cup Of Joe's also served as a vital social center for residents of Mchenry during those early days when there wasn't much else going on outside their doorsteps other than farming and hunting opportunities...It was here that local boys would get together for beers or conversation before heading off into the world... After all, these days we could probably count on one hand how many people actually live within walking distance of our old favorite spot! Mchenry is an unincorporated community in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The community is located on the south side of the Chicago River. As of the 2010 census, its population was 2,815. The name "Mchenry" derives from a Shawnee word meaning "to store up." There were two stores that operated in Mchenry until about 1927 when they merged into one store and continued to use that name until 1984 when they changed their name to Ingersoll-Rand. The first post office at Mchenry was established on March 12, 1881. It remained in operation until it closed on December 15, 1907.

Mchenry, Illinois is a census-designated place in the Edwardsville, Illinois metropolitan area and a suburb of St. Louis. As of the 2010 census, the population was 17,898. The name "Mchenry" comes from an early settler named Robert McNaughton. The town was organized on April 12, 1856 by order of the General Assembly as part of the Springfield Township subdivision of St. Louis County. It became a village on March 15, 1909; it had a population of 708 when it became a town. On October 1, 1956, Mchenry incorporated as a city with its own government and services within St. Louis County; it had an estimated population of 21,000 at that time. The city boundaries were revised to include portions of Highland Park and Ferguson on May 6, 2002; this added 3 square miles (10 km2) to the total community size making it one ofStL's greater suburbs. In recent years Mchenry has recovered some lost ground in terms job opportunities and economic stabilityrelative to its larger sister cities like Ferguson or Highland Park - but still occupies 5th place among STL's largest towns for employment growth during FY2015 according to Forbes Magazine In 2006-2007 Mchenry topped all other STL municipalities for% increase in median household income over prior year
John A. Mchenry was born on a farm in Mchenry, Illinois in 1849. He attended Central High School and then the University of Illinois, where he studied law. After law school, he moved to Chicago and began his career as an attorney. In 1870, he married Clara Lavinia Gillespie and they had two children. Mchenry served as mayor of Chicago from 1893 to 1897 and as governor of Illinois from 1899 to 1903. In 1907, he was elected president of the United States by the electoral vote but lost to Woodrow Wilson.
