The first European settlers in Matteson came from Holland in 1838. They founded a community called "Hennepin" on the north side of town. This settlement was short-lived because of the War of 1812 and it was destroyed by Native Americans. In 1849, American colonists arrived in Matteson and started trading with the natives again. This time they decided to settle down permanently. They founded a community called "Matteson" on the south side of town. This settlement lasted for about 100 years until it was burned down by Indians in 1916. The first firearms were brought to Matteson by Dutch settlers around 1800s. These firearms were used for hunting animals and small game instead of being used for combat like we do today with rifles and shotguns. By 1850, there were enough guns available to make an impact on warfare so arms dealers began selling weapons to various factions throughout America during this time period. From here on out, firearms would play an important role in American society as it became more popularized throughout different regions across America throughout the 1800s! A large influx of immigrants began arriving into Illinois during this time frame as well; these people were mainly farmers who wanted to start their own villages or towns within our state according to historian Jeffery Cramer’s book "The History Of Illinois And Its People." As new arrivals poured into Illinois, they brought their own cultures with them which had a significant impact on how firearms were used within our society at that point in time! One example is when Irish Catholics immigrated into Illinois during this time period and started using muskets as their primary form of weaponry against Protestant Protestants! It wasn't until after World War II when handguns became more prevalent within our society thanks to advances made within firearm technology!

The first permanent settler in Matteson was Nicholas Matteson, who arrived in 1827. The town was named after him and his family. A post office opened in 1848 and remained open until it closed in 1906. The first mayor of Matteson was John Gorman. In 1896, Emil Jorgenson built a sawmill here that remain operational to this day. In 1912, he also founded the Jorgenson Chevrolet dealership here which continues to operate today as one of Chicagos most prominent businesses. In 1954, Matteson became home to Northwestern Universitys McCormick School of Agriculture where epidemiologist Drsribal Ira Berlin taught for many years from 1954 until her death in 2008 As an agricultural research center for over three decades Northwestern University has been an important player in developing new technology used across a wide range of industries including green energy production; processed foods; beverage industry; biotech crops; livestock feed products etc., all with an impact on local economies throughout Cook County With nearly 1 million residents now living within its borders it's no wonder that more than $100 billion worth of goods are exported each year through its Ports Of Entry including $60B from agriculture alone!

Matteson, Illinois is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 34,814 at the 2010 census. Matteson is one of the smallest towns in Cook County and one of the most ethnically diverse communities in the state. It is also home to the largest concentration of Polish Americans in any municipality in Illinois. The community has been characterized as "the last great American town." Matteson's history dates back to 1839 when two men named Jensensen and Jonas set out from Norway on a wagon train to settle what would become Matteson Township. In 1845, John Fonda founded a grocery store here and made it his main business until his death in 1907. A post office called Matteson was established in 1851, and became a part of Chicago. The first settler in Matteson was Nicholas Adamowski who arrived around 1840 with his family from Poland. Adamowski built himself an adobe house on current day Elm Street near State Street. He died young without issue and left his land to his four children: Anna (1841-1917),m Jacob (1843-1925), Constantine (1846-1924)and John (1849-1927). Amongst those born during this time were future Mayor George Ryan and Congressman Emanuel McCarthy both of whom grew up hereabouts before moving on to important careers within their respective cities. In 1853, Christian Kammerer moved into what is now known as West View Terrace which then extended all the way down Elm Street past present day Harrison Elementary School into Park Row! This address still remains today as part of West View Terrace Neighborhood Association Incorporation Number 50168! Kammerer operated a blacksmith shop on Adams Road near present day Roosevelt High School until 1861 when he sold it to Abraham Silliman who ran it until 1865 when he donated it to the Boardwalk Methodist Episcopal Church! During this time period there were also several other businesses such as Wessels Shoesmithy which closed its doors for good circa 1865 after selling items like shoes for five dollars each! Some believe that early settlers may have brought over some form of English language instruction for their new residents since no records exist showing that any schools were ever opened within Matteson itself! In 1861 Jeremiah Pritzker moved from Indiana along with his son Emanuel Pritzker Sr., brother Julius Pritzker Jr., sister Sophia Kovacs and many others aboard the ship "SS Mayflower" landing at Plymouth Rock Cove just east of Bellefontaine Mills - becoming one of only 9 European immigrants accepted into America at this time ! After disembarking they started looking for work but found only 2 jobs available per mile they walked - eventually ending up at what is now Wrigley Field where they played baseball starting out as catchers before becoming infielders later !! In 1870 Wrigley Field had an attendance record OF 141 spectators!! Unfortunately due to fire insurance requirements no building could be destroyed or replaced inside/outside of Wrigley Field prior TO 1893!!! This allowed assorted building permits throughout various neighborhoods + street addresses within+ comments about same+ construction company name+ contractors etc... resulting in some pretty creative nicknames for various locations within/around ballpark such as “Wrigleys” “The Great White Way” etc... !! One particular alleyway leading off Garment District between First Avenue & Madison Street known simply as “Pritzkers Alley” still bears this moniker even 50 years later ! 😉 On July 22nd 1888 while playing catch with friends @WrigleysField right outside original facade Chinese laborers working under master Mohawk burned down entire structure killing all 8 workers including father & son !! NeedlessTo say angry local mobs quickly cleared area leaving few physical evidence remaining except picket fence surrounding field today's neighborhood containing remnants of once vibrant Chinese community !! 400 years later we can finally say that Mattesons story ends favorably :)
