From then on, Kluever's store became one of the most popular and well-known coffee shops in town. His coffee beans were such a success that he decided to start manufacturing his own beans and packaging them himself. He eventually became known as "The Coffee King" and continued to serve delicious cup of Joe's coffee until his death in 1984. Markham is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 21,876 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Markham was platted in 1847 by Nathaniel Harmon Candler and John B. Richardson. The name derives from the Ottawa word "marka", meaning "a clearing or meadow". The first settler in what is now Markham was George Stephenson, who built a sawmill on the banks of the Fox River in 1846. In 1854, John Pritchard established a tannery near present-day Waukegan. In 1865, Elisha Rockefeller founded Standard Oil Company here to produce oil shale for production in Illinois. Standard's personnel included Edwin L. Drake and James Watt (the inventor of steam engine). In 1886, local entrepreneur Augustus Kelley bought land west of town and began developing it into a rice plantation called Rice Ridge Plantation with an acreage total of . He named his estate after one of his plantations in Africa – Grantley Park Estate – which he had visited while touring that country as part of his business interests there during the 1880s. Some hundred slaves were brought over to work on Rice Ridge during its early years; but following Kelley's death in 1893, most continued to work at Grantley Park until after World War II ended it as an agricultural center for black Americans when white farmers moved into central Illinois from outlying areas Agricultural production declined thereafter due to changes wrought by irrigation , Americanization , mechanization - although some small scale subsistence farming remains until recent times

Markham is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,187 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first residents of what is now Markham came from nearby Burr Ridge in 1837. They set up a store and farm on the land that now includes the town and built a few homes as well. The community's name comes from a grant given to them by President James K. Polk in 1846 for their services during the American Civil War. Markham was incorporated as a village in 1903 and then as a town in 1907. At its peak, it had around 20 businesses and 400 residents. In 1945, it had only 5 businesses but over 1,000 people living in 219 homes. In 1990, when it merged with neighbouring Addison Township to form Markham-Addison Township, its population decreased to 712 despite having more than double the land area of Addison Township (1,902 acres compared to 461 acres). However, this has since increased to over 1,600 people living on 1 square mile (500 hectares) of land within the new township limits today - making it one of the most vibrant rural communities located within an urban setting in Illinois!
Markham was founded in 1834 by John Markham and his wife Catherine. The town became a center for agriculture, with the opening of the first corn crib in 1836. In 1840, the population of Markham reached 300 residents. By 1850, the town had grown to 2,000 residents. In 1862, markham was renamed after General Leonard Wood during the Union army's invasion of Illiniwek Territory. The town continued to grow until it reached its peak at 5,000 residents in 1920. After that point, it slowly decreased in population until it peaked at 1,500 residents in 1940.
