Gourmet Coffee was founded by Harry Crouch and his wife Florence. The couple opened their first shop in 1922, and soon became known for their high-quality coffee. They continued to operate their business until the early 1950s. During that time, Gourmet Coffee became one of the most well-known coffee shops in Illinois. The early years of Gourmet Coffee were difficult for the business. Despite being successful, they were constantly struggling to keep up with the competition. However, over time, they began to improve their condition and become very successful. In 1951, Harry Crouch passed away suddenly; however, his wife continued to run the business until her own death in 1984. After Florence's death, Harry's son Kevin took over management of Gourmet Coffee. Kevin enjoyed continuing the tradition of quality coffee at Gourmet Coffee until his own death in 1999. Nowadays, Gourmet Coffee is still a popular choice for those looking for delicious cup of joe!
