The Macomb National Guard was organized on November 14, 1917 as the section of the Illinois National Guard. The organization was made up of men who were drafted into the United States Army during World War I. On November 15, 1917, President Woodrow Wilson announced that all men between 18 and 30 years old who had been registered with the Illinois National Guard and were honorably discharged from military service could join in any national emergency declared by Congress. This proclamation created a need for an organization to manage these men and allowed for their continuation in service when regular units became available. On October 4, 1920, Congress passed a bill creating the Michigan National Guardsmen Reserve Unit which would consist of 150 officers and enlisted men from Macomb County and neighboring counties. The unit was activated on October 12th and began operations on October 16th. On December 10th, 1920,Congress passed another bill authoring an organization known as the Macomb County Veterans Reserve Unit which would consist of 350 officers and enlisted men from Macomb County only. The unit was activated on January 6th 1921 and began operations on January 20th. In 1924, Congress approved a bill providing for an organizational change within the Illinois National Guard including the creation of two separate organizations: the 1st Regiment Armory Company (later redesignated as Company A) which would be composed of soldiers from Cook County; and 2nd Regiment Armory Company (later redesignated as Company B) which would be composed of soldiers from Wayne County. These changes allowed for more efficient management of resources within national guard units while also increasing recruitment opportunities in both organizations. On July 1st 1926 there was another organizational change within the Illinois National Guard when it was decided that companies should no longer be subordinated to brigades but should instead be divided into battalions under a battalion commander responsible to a brigade commander(s). This change allowed for better leadership at battalion level while also allowing commanders greater discretion in how they conducted operations. In 1937-1938 there were additional organizational changes within IllinoisNationalGuard when it was decided that companies should no longer be subordinated to brigades but should instead be divided into platoons under platoon commanders responsible to company commanders(s). This change allowed for better command at platoon level while also allowing commanders greater discretion in how they conducted operations. In 1945-1946 there were still additional organizational changes within IllinoisNationalGuard when it was decided that companies should no longer be subordinated to brigades but should instead be divided into squads under squad leaders responsible to squadron commanders(s). This change allowed for improved command at squad level while also allowing captains greater discretion in how they conducted operations

Macomb is a small village in Macomb County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,559 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name "Macomb" may derive from one of threeake: Malcom (from Malcolm), Aonghus (a variant form of Angus), or Amicius (an early Latin name). There is no record of when or where the first permanent settler in what would become Macomb County happened to be named Malcolm. However, records from 1811 show that John McNaught built a log cabin on the site now known as McNaught Road in what is now Lombard Township and called it "Malcolm's Cabin". In 1837, Captain James McNaught donated land for a public school in present-day Macomb Township and named it "Oak Park Academy". In 1868, residents of Lombard Township petitioned for incorporation as a Village and the new Village Board voted to accept this petition on November 10th. On December 15th, 1870, Macombsville was chartered as an incorporated town by Act of the General Assembly of Illinois. In 1898, an act were passed by Congress which designated portions of Cook County including parts now located in Elmwood Park and Danvers as part of Michigan Territory so that rifle hunting could take place without having to worry about state permits or registration. This event led to much excitement throughout Northern Illinois because many people believed that this would create an opportunity for settlers to move into these areas and start new businesses - something that had not been seen before in those regions. With all this activity going on right near their homes - many people believe that early settlers who made the decision to settle here were inspired more by chance than plan

Macomb is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 21,814 at the 2010 census. Macomb is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. It is named after John C. Macdonald, who served as the first sheriff of Cook County and as president of the Illinois State Senate from 1851 to 1857. The village of Macomb was organized in 1836 by Peter Knoppers and others as a dry goods store and post office on the site of an old mill complex known as the Belle Isle Mill Site (now a state park). The first settler in what would become Macomb Township was Nicholas Canning in 1840; he built a cabin on what is now North Central Road. A few years later, David Hutton erected a log cabin on land that became South Central Road. In 1846, James Sweeny purchased two acres (0.8 km²) east of present day North Central Road and founded the village of Macomb proper; he named it for John C. Macdonald, then serving as sheriff of Cook County and state senator from 1851 to1857." In 1870, John Fenton erected a gristmill on East Side Road which became one of the largest mills in Illinois during that decade with its power supplying much of northern Illinois and parts of Indiana; it continued operations until 1905 when it went out OFFSITE due to steam engine failure & converted into storage at current location In 1903-1904 an experimental hydroelectric plant operated by General Electric at Griggs Dam produced electricity for lighting purposes only & destroyed most vegetation associated with dam operation including trees around dam intake & spillway creating ``ghost towns``. Some Kenneth Kittredge’s descendants still operate such community today known as Kittredgesville which lies between Richfield Center to their northwest & Westmont Village to their south
The city of Macomb, Illinois was founded by the French in 1795. The city was named after Philippe-Jacques Conte, who had settled in the area in 1788. In 1810, the city became a county seat of Cook County. The population of Macomb increased rapidly during the 19th century due to its location on the border of three counties - Cook, Kane and Wayne - and its access to major transportation routes. In 1871, Macomb became a part of the newly created State of Michigan Territory. By 1912, however, Macomb had again become an important agricultural center due to its fertile soil and proximity to new markets in Chicago. In 1938,Macomb joined with other cities within Cook County to form the City of Detroit.
