Loves Park, Illinois is a small town in the northwest corner of Cook County, Illinois. The population was 8,748 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and is bordered by Lake Michigan to the north and east, Thebarton Township to the south, Cicero Township to the west and northwest, and Oak Lawn to the northeast. Loves Park's economy depends largely on agriculture which produces corn, soybeans, wheat and other crops; tourism which includes visits by people from around Chicago; and retail trade. The town has two schools: one public school with grades kindergarten through eighth grade and one private high school that offers ninth through 12th grades. There are also three churches in Loves Park- two Apostolic Churches (St. John's United Methodist Church & St. Michael's Catholic Church) and one Seventh-day Adventist church (Church of God in Christ). The village of Loves Park was platted in 1872 by Revs. George Harker & Drury Davenport when they purchased a tract of land from David Jourdain for $1 000 (). In 1874 it was renamed "Love" after its first postmaster general.- later changed back to "Loves Park." A year later it became an incorporated village with a Board of Trustees chaired by Mayor Joby Sayers who had been born in Love Village on November 9th 1847.– named for Reverend Amos Hales Lovejoy who had served as principal pastor at Grace Presbyterian Church near Joliet until his death on October 11th 1865.– After Mr. Sayers' death on May 10th 1906 concurrent mayor Harry Carney took over as chairman with Mrs Jane Sheahan serving as vice president affectionately called Lady Lovejoy or Lady Hatejoy because she could not stand being associated with city government.– On July 1st 1924 Loves Park lost its charter status due to lack of taxes paid

Loves Park is a small village in Cook County, Illinois. It was established in 1871 as a result of the merger of two smaller villages, Loves and Park. The population of Loves Park was 1,521 at the 2000 census. The name "Loves Park" is derived from the words "love" and "park." The first settler in what is now Loves Park was John Fenton. He purchased land east of present-day East Side Drive and built a cabin there in 1867. Other early settlers included James Ahern, who bought 100 acres near what is now West Side Drive; Charles Vail; Wm Hanks; Jno Beringer; Chas Grosvenor; and Elisha Sears. In 1871, three other villages - Parks, Lovellsville, and Wellesley - were merged into Loves Park to form one larger community. At that time it had a population of 1,521 people. The name change came about because many residents in those earlier villages were married into each other's families and wanted their children to be called by their original village names rather than have them distinctionless new townships with their own identities (e.g., Parks became Wellesley). It wasn't until after World War II that the community began to grow rapidly due to its location adjacent to several large manufacturing plants (including Ford Motor Company) and its access to major highways such as I-75/I-476/I-57 which made it easy for locals to get around town. Today Loves Park has more than 2,000 residents who enjoy all aspects of life within its boundaries: shopping at local boutiques or farmers markets on Oneida Street between Clinton Street and Harrison Avenue; playing golf at nearby La Salle Golf Course or visiting Chicago'sArt Institute on Lawrence Boulevard between State Street and Pulaski Road; going out for dinner at local restaurants like Taverna Italiano or Joe's Pizza & Pasta along Oneida Street between Clinton Street and Harrison AvenueErin Germann
Loves Park was founded in 1892 by a group of farmers. The city was named for them because they all loved the park and its many features. In 1916, the city began to build an amusement park on the site of the current municipal building.
