Loves Park, Illinois is a city located in Sangamon County, Illinois. The population was 9,584 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Sangamon County. Loves Park was founded by John A. Loves in 1864 as a small town on the banks of the Kankakee River. In 1871, Loves Park incorporated as a city and it has since grew to become one of the most populous cities in Sangamon County with over 12,000 residentsia according to 2010 census estimates. Loves Park's history dates back to 1864 when John A. Loves founded the small town on the banks of the Kankakee River – just north of present day Loves Park – making it one of America’s earliest planned communities. The town rapidly grew into a busy agricultural center with several stores and businesses existing by 1870. By 1900, Love’s Park had reached its peak population with over 1,000 residents living in handsome brick and frame homes erected along tree-lined streets that still stand today. The city experienced some significant growth during World War II thanks to wartime military housing developments such as Camp Evans which saw an increase in civilian employment opportunities within Love’s Park limits while also providing soldiers and their families with access to excellent public schools and recreational amenities like baseball diamonds and swimming pools (later replaced by playgrounds). Loved’sPark officially became a City Limits Municipality on April 14th 1966 after being ratified through referendum by citizens residing within its boundaries who voted at more than 60% majority turn out (as required under state law). On January 7th 1969 Mayor Harry Egan announced that Love’sPark would be annexing neighboring townships for total incorporation into City Limits Municipality form: Cook Township (north), Trumbull Township (south), Macoupin Township (east) and Kendall Township (west). This addition brought an estimated 4,500 new citizens into Love’sPark including many African American families who had long been commuting from other parts of Sangamon County for work or Same-sex marriage licenses unavailable or unaffordable inside their respective racial segregationist Republican municipalities! As part of this annexation process, all property values withinCity Limits Municipality were raised $10 per acre ($160 per hectare) resulting in massive real estate speculation among developers throughout our community subsequent years culminating in current day Value Over Price topped $1 million per acre! Today there are over 12K people living within City Limits Municipality boundaries making it one of Sangamon County's most diverse locales – offering something for everyone! From vibrant downtown districts filled with cultural attractions such as theatres & concerts/theatre events/museums & galleries; lively neighborhoods characterized by gently rolling hills bordered by beautiful parks complete with walking trails; premier shopping centers containing top name retailers such as Macy's & Sears; dining options enjoyed by locals & visitors alike including 3 greatoboards - Allendale Buffet House BBQ place ranked #1 amongst Chicagoans nationwide; multiple golf courses available including world-renowned PGA Course operated jointly by two adjacent golf clubs which offers stunning views across both Rivers - Cumming Country Club & Lincolnshire Country Club ; vast amounts of natural resources including coal mining purposes currently taking place beneath former resident-owned open pits adjacent to Menard Municipal Airport serving business aviation customers nearby; major development plans currently underway for portions bordering Dempster Street incorporating greenfield redevelopment totaling nearly 2 acres comprising approximately 50 jobs creating much needed economic activity - this area is simply called "Love'sPark now." love's park history
Loves Park is a small town in the northwestern corner of Illinois. It was founded in 1837 by Samuel and Anna Loves, who named it for their two children, John and Eliza. The town grew rapidly during the early 19th century, thanks to its location on the Des Plaines River. By 1870, Loves Park had a population of over 500 people. In 1876, the Loves family donated land to create a park in honor of their children. The park became an important recreational spot for residents of nearby cities such as Chicago and Milwaukee. Today, Loves Park remains an attractive community with easy access to public transportation and excellent shopping opportunities.
