In Lockport, Ill., small batch coffee has been a part of the community for over eighty years. The first coffee roasters in Lockport were David Sellers and his partners, Willie and Joe. They started roasting beans in a small office on the east side of town. When Sellers passed away in 1978, his partner, Willie, took over the business. Today, there are four businesses that sells small batch coffee in Lockport: One Two Three Coffee Company, Caffeine Roasters (Joe & Willie's), Baked Beans & More (owned by Donny Maynard), and Coffee Bean Exchange (owned by Rick Henneman). All of these businesses offer different flavors and sizes of beans to their customers. Coffee was first made from corn and water at this location on State Street near High School until 1886 when Elijah Burr started roasted beans at this spot - still doing so today! In 1892 the mill began turning out ground coffee for distribution throughout Illinois. It wasn't until after World War II that large scale manufacturing occurred here; during that timeLockport became an important transportation hub for beans entering Chicago through the tracks running through town. The industry shrank during the war because many people left to work in other factories or served in military service. However, since returning home following the war many new coffee entrepreneurs had set up shop in Lockport; among them were Donny Maynard who opened one Two Three Coffee Company shortly after returning from World War II-Maynard is credited with Startin' It All! lockportcoffee Co!. After purchasing One Two Three Coffee Company from Donny Maynard we set about making our very own small batch espresso shots using only whole bean high quality coffees- something we have done ever since!

lockport coffee history begins in 1887 when John H. Slocombe and his brother, James, opened the first coffee house in Lockport. The two brothers continued to operate their business until about 1925. In 1907, Slocombe's son-in-law, Arthur Weisman, opened a small grocery and café in downtown Lockport which became the nucleus of what is now known as Weisman's Coffee House & Cafe. The Slocombes operated this business until their death in 1944. The Slocombes' successor as owners of the lockport coffee house was Myron Czaja who acquired it from the family estate in 1951. In 1966, Czaja sold it to Harry Waguespack and his wife Betty for $2 million dollars. Waguespack renamed it Harry Waguespack Coffee House & Cafeteria before selling it to Julius 'Jurys' Kasper in 1984 for an undisclosed sum. Kasper converted the building into a restaurant known today as Juliuskasper's Coffeehouse & Bakery which continues to serve coffee under that name today.
Lockport is a town in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. The population was 12,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settlers in what would become Lockport were three families from Harper's Ferry, Virginia who arrived on October 15, 1824. They named their new community "Harrisonburg," after General George Washington and his army's march through that county one year earlier on its way to Cairo, Egypt. In 1827, the townsite was platted by John Pritzker and James Kappeler; it was named for Colonel Augustus Lockwood (1796-1856), a brigadier general in the Union Army during the American Civil War who surrendered at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865. Colonel Lockwood had been Commandant of the 2nd Regiment of Illinois Infantry when he was fatally wounded at Antietam Heights near Damascus on July 11, 1862 while leading a detachment against Confederate forces under General Robert Ewell During the warlock Villehardouin noted: " lockport | lockport IL bequeathed us this pretty village." colonel lockwood post office opened in 1840 In 1851–52 an act of Congress authorized five hundred acres (2 km²) of land to be donated to form what would become Loop Community Park; it opened to residents on December 1, 1853. The first president of Cook County was Aaron Burr (1785-1865). Burr died unmarried and had no children; his estate passed to his brother Samuel Burr Jr., who married Anna Hennenbeck Carr (1790-1864). In honor of their father's death they renamed their home ? Burr City.? After Burlington Avenue became known as State Street in 1905 following World War I efforts by then Mayor John Mitchell?s administration to improve traffic flow along that street eastward into downtown Chicagoans began calling themselves "Beach Boys"? However before long Beach Boys activities moved westward down State Street whereupon ?State Boulevard? became known as Boulevard Beach? Boulevard Beach Road ran parallel with Northwestern Avenue until about 1954 when Northwestern turned east onto Harbor Drive which led directly out into Lake Michigan just north of present day Midway Island. Boulevard beach closed completely due to high water levels caused by Hurricane Agnes on November 8th 1969 making it difficult for motorists access either road today despite several rebuild attempts over many years.? Lockport, Illinois was founded in 1824. The town was named after Timothy Lockwood, the first settler. The town was first established as a small community on the banks of the Chicago River. In 1848, a post office and store were built in Lockport. A sawmill and gristmill were also constructed in this time. By 1870, the population of Lockport had reached 581 people. In 1876, the Chicago, Milwaukee and St Paul Railway (CMR) arrived in Lockport and began to provide transportation between Chicago and various regional businesses in the town. This new development allowed for increased commerce in Lockport and its surrounding area. In 1886, a large factory was built near the town square by J P Donovan & Sons Company. This facility produced goods for local markets until it closed in 1935.
