Lisle, Illinois is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 24,812 at the 2010 census. Lisle is the county seat of Cook County. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name Lisle may derive from "lish" or "a small stream". The first European to see and named the present day town was Nicholas-Jacques Lisle on November 8, 1763 while exploring land that would later become Lake Michigan. He entered into a treaty with the Ottawa people at Fort Dearborn on October 25, 1763 in which he agreed to receive Feedback (water) from them in return for goods that he was bringing back from his exploration of what is now Marquette Park.. In 1827 Lisle became one of thirty towns in Cook County when it was organized as a result of an act by Governor John Brown directly upon petition of several citizens. In 1847 it became one of two counties (the other being Rockford) within Cook County when Kankakee and Rockford were combined into one county. On December 15, 1870 voters approved annexation by Chicago as part of a larger move by Illinois to centralize government under President Abraham Lincoln following national turmoil over Reconstruction and white supremacy across the South during the era known as Reconstructionism. As part of this consolidation process Lisle residents voted 3-0 to approve annexation into Chicago on March 1st, 1871 becoming one of its original six municipalities (along with Hinsdale, Elmhurst, First Hill/Rochester Hills and Oak Park). In 1912 Lisle's incorporation as a village made it possible for its mayor to preside over meetings instead of having to be called together every meeting like mayors in other villages had been since1890s including such famous jurisdictions as Streamwood (1910), Evanston (1916), Hyde Park (1920), Glenview Heights (1924), Arlington Heights (1928), Lawndale(1930) and Maywood (1934). This innovation allowed for more rational governance within Village governments which led eventually to their decline throughout much OFIW history until they were finally abolished effective January 1st FY2009 effective replaced by Township formGovernment withinCookcounty On July 5th 1951 an act providing for automatic fire protection along arterial streets in Cook County passed both houses without opposition; this ordinance became law on August 6th 1951 effective September 1st51 making all arterial streets operating under Automatic Fire Protection mandatory under state law On May 30th 1958 Mayor Harry Sanger paid tribute at Riverside Cemetery located east side off I-294 just southbound exit ramp between Indiana &Chicago Streets after five years long fight against enclosure project there park went thru without final vote then city pulled out saying no revenue could come from sale

Lisle, Illinois is a small town located in McHenry County, Illinois. The population was 1,906 at the 2010 census. Lisle is one of the few communities in Cook County that has both an agricultural and manufacturing base. The town's primary industry is agriculture, with crops such as corn, beans, soybeans, and wheat; but it also has a small manufacturing presence. The history of Lisle began with two families who settled there in 1836. They were the White family and John Toomey. The first store on Main Street opened in 1837 and became the first grocery store in Lisle. In 1840, another store was built on Second Street and this became the second largest store in Lisle until it closed its doors in 1959. Lisle's original name was "Granite City". It was changed to "Lisle" after a donation from Driggs Granite Company which had quarried granite at nearby Carbondale. After being renamed for Driggs and his family, the company donated land to build a school- including 135 acres (51 hectares) of present day Lisle Town Center - which would later become home to Northwestern Memorial Hospital/ Stroger Hospital/ University of Chicago Hospitals campus as well as numerous other businesses and residences. In 1907-08 when local farmers decided to grow their own food instead of buying produce from stores near by - they pooled their resources together to purchase what is now known as First United Methodist Church property on Main Street between Walnut Avenue and Central Park Drive today’s McDermott Place shopping center – thenceforth called “The Village” by residents until 1984 when it became part of North Stokes Elementary School District #2 boundary expansion project). When Northwestern Memorial Hospital moved into its new building next door back then known as Stroger Hospital (now UIC Hospitals), it again changed its name to Northwestern Memorial Health System before becoming part of Chicagoland Healthcare Partners (CHP) organization announced by Mayor Rahm Emanuel on October 5th 2009 through email sent out prior to his election victory over incumbent Richard Mooty Jr.. On January 2nd 2013 CHP announced they are moving all operations eastward across I- 65 from downtown Chicago into north suburban Mundelein where they will be taking over long time former Sunoco gas station across from Hennepin County State Farm just off Highway 61 north of Bloomington... finally effective November 30th 2013 Chp announced thru social media that all operations have ceased & assets have been sold
Lisle was a small town in Illinois until the late 1800s. It was founded by German settlers in 1837, and became a railroad town in the 1870s. The Lisle Railroad left Lisle for Chicago on July 1, 1872, and the town lost its rail connection.
