The Lisle Coast Guard Station has been providing safety and security to the community for over 100 years. The station is known for its emergency response capabilities, as well as its gift history. In 1893, the Lisle Coast Guard Station was established as a result of an effort by the town of Lisle to create a presence in the area. At first, the station consisted of just one boat and two men. However, over time, it grew into a powerful force and today, it provides assistance to residents across much of central Illinois. One of the most famous gifts that the Coast Guard Station has given is its donation of two lifeboats in 1922. These boats were designed to provide access to any body of water on short notice and were originally used for search and rescue operations. Since their donation, both boats have been used multiple times during various rescues throughout Illinois. Additionally, the station has donated numerous pieces of equipment including fire engines, helicopters, radar equipment and more. In addition to these donations, many local businesses have also made contributions towards improving safety within the community. This includes giving backpacks filled with donated items or donating money specifically towards this goal.

The Lisle Coast Guard Station was opened on September 3, 1915. The station was originally manned by the White Haven Volunteer Fire Department. In 1916, the station was renamed the Lisle Coast Guard Station and it remained that way until 1962 when it became part of the Illinois state government. On January 1, 1963, the coast guard station became a part of the Great Lakes Naval Base and became known as Great Lakes Naval Station Lisle. The station's name was changed to its current one on December 12, 2016.
Lisle, Illinois is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 59,611 at the 2010 census. Lisle is the second most populous city in Cook County after Chicago and it is the seat of Lisle Township. The town of Lisle was organized on November 10, 1827 from much of what is now Aurora Township and had a population of 2,500. It was named for Lewis Cass (1774-1845), U.S. Congressman from Michigan and one of the Fathers of American Republic. In 1851, when McLean County was created out of parts of Kane and La Salle Counties by Act 1st March 4th,[1] Lisle became part of McLean County. On February 15, 1901 the City Council voted to change its name to honor General David Ziegler (1796-1865) who fought in both Mexican–American War and Civil War as an officer with Union Army's 3rd Infantry Regiment "Ziegler's Battalion." The first mayor was James Sperry; later mayors were: Charles Wohlgemuth (1907-1910), Homer Bogan (1920-1924), Edward Cope (1945-1949), John Hynes (1970-1974). Lisle has been designated a National Historic Landmark District since 1966. The district includes over 100 buildings dating back to 1827 including many that are still used in operation today such as the old brick courthouse building which has been extensively renovated into apartments and is now occupied by Stritch Elementary School; also included are several older industrial sites including those associated with McCormick & Company grain elevator operators Kapp & Sons; Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.; Northwestern Bell Telephone Co.; Peabody Coal Mine; Smith Machine Shop; Wehrmacher Paper Mfg., precursor to Corning Glass Works Inc.; Milwaukee Road Railroad Depot #2; Chicago Boardwalk Terminal Station #3a/b/c - all built between 1914 and 1918 during prohibition era when Liler Lake became known as "Cleveland Park" because so many business people moved there during that time period to avoid prohibition enforcement efforts led by Sheriff George Prentice(1871-1945). Lisle celebrates its local history every year at two events: Pioneer Days on October 11th each year commemorating events before 1860 while Second Day International Folk Festival takes place on December 6th annually celebrating local traditions like traditional games like corn dogs or podgepodge which take place outdoors on downtown streets or in small parks around town while also showcasing new music, artistry and food items from around Illinois taking place throughout the weeklong event

Awards given out annually include The Medal Of Honor which was created in 1968 for exceptional acts OF heroism or selflessness while serving on duty; The Distinguished Service Cross which is reserved for exceptionally meritorious achievement while serving with distinction; A Presidential Commendation honoring distinguished service during Operation Neptune Spear – Commander William J Fultz commanding Task Force 25th Naval District – Ortega Beach Newfoundland – Sept 2001; An Independence Dayeach year when merchandise items are auctioned off including mementos from every president since Coolidge To commemorate our coast guard members who have passed away we establish an annual memorial event called Memorial Day
