The Lincolnwood Coast Guard Station has been providing law enforcement and emergency services to the community of Lincolnwood for over ninety years. The station is home to a number of different units, including the Harbor Police Department, which provides security for the harbor and its environs. Lincolnwood is a small town in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Lincolnwood is located east of Chicago on Interstate 80 and south of McHenry. The community was named after Abraham Lincoln and his family who lived there before moving to Springfield, Illinois in 1847. After the death of Abraham Lincoln, his widow Elizabeth took over the house and estate at 4405 Niles Road which became the nucleus for what would become Lincolnwood. Lincolnwood first appeared on maps as a place name in 1868 when it was included in a map by Jesse Whitcomb Angel with its current location shown as an addition to that map. The first real-life settlers arrived in 1870 when Ebenezer Morse bought from Elijah Davenport 5 acres (20,000 m²) of land grant near present day Lincolnwood for $200 dollars (). In 1874, James Haughton founded a hardware store in what is now the north side of town and soon started selling lumber from his sawmill which he built on the east side of I-80 just south of downtown. In 1879, John Prentice opened a general store next door to Haughton’s store which grew into one of DuPage County’s leading grocery stores until 1992 when it closed down due to financial problems. In 1893, Drue Ladd established a health resort called “The Health Resort” across from Prentice’s store; this facility would later be known as Prairie View A&M University Hospital and remain open until September 2009 when it closed because lack of funding caused by economic recession made it too costly to keep running. In 1899–1900 Ziegfeld Folland staged a production called “Ain't Misbehavin'” at Northwestern Mutual Park adjacent to Prentice's Store; this production helped bring attention to what was then an unknown community site and led to increased development around that time including more housing developments along I-80 corridor with similar names such as "Fellowship Hall" (now Christmastime Wonderland), "Hollywood Hills", "Nina's Place" (now Leslieville), "Pinecrest Manor", etc.). In 1902–1903 Jethro Tull performed their only show at Lockland Race Track on Stephenson Avenue adjoining present day Union Station; this performance led directly to Tull Productions having its own building off Wabash Avenue between Jefferson Boulevard and Des Plaines Avenue within three years). After World War II many residents left for better paying jobs elsewhere while others continued living there through other business ventures; however, during the 1990s local businesses began struggling due primarily to changes inDu Page County economy including high unemployment rates throughout much of Clinton Township combined with new competition from neighboring townships like Arlington Heights and Wheaton Heights while also attracting larger commercial entities such as Sears Holdings Corporation followed by KFC fast food restaurant chains Pizza Hut/ Domino's Pizza/Carl's Jr./ Subway among others making Lincolnwood less desirable place for residency especially given recent trends favoring larger communities outside DuPage County reachable via public transportation or drive along arterial roads with more retail options nearby like Hoffman Estates or Elmhurst IL rather than long drives into unappealing townships like Crystal Lake IL or Elgin IL . Lincolnwood is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is located on the north side of the city of Chicago and was formed as a result of the merger of two smaller towns, Lincoln and Woodridge. The population was 6,724 at the 2010 census. Lincolnwood was platted in 1847 by George Washington Dixon and became part of the City of Chicago in 1867. Its first post office opened in 1849. It annexed Woodridge in 1886 and had a population of 2,191 at the 2000 census. In 1907 it amalgamated with other villages within Cook County to form Lincolnwood-Cook County Village. The village has a total area of , all land grants from General John Fitch to Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865). The community's name originated from its location on "the wooded knoll" near where President Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12th, 1809. He grew up there until he was five years old when his family moved to Springfield Township on the east side of Chicago for his father's job as an attorney general. After leaving Springfield Township for good in 1828, Abe spent many hours walking down this same path that he would later walk while president – now called State Street – leading into town center to pick apples or visit friends before going home again

By the end of the 20th century, however, Lincolnwood had regained some of its former prominence as a cultural center and religious community.
