Lansing, Illinois was once home to one of the most important coffee companies in the world, G Venables Coffee Company. This company was founded by George Venables and his brother John Venables in 1875. The company produced some of the best-quality coffee in the United States and even exported its beans to other countries. The G Venables Coffee Company was actually started as a business venture between two brothers. George Venables had started a grocery store in 1858 and he soon realized that he could sell more coffee if he sold it through his store rather than directly to consumers. He therefore decided to start his own coffee company and named it G Venables Coffee Company. JohnVenables also joined forces with George Venable at this time and they founded J&J Coffee Co., Ltd. This company eventually became one of the largest coffee companies in North America. The first shipment of beans from G Venables Coffee Company went out to customers on April 15, 1875. It took almost two years for these beans to reach their destination, thanks to the difficult journey overland! In September 1876, GVenables submitted an application for a U.S Patent #2,811,631 which allowed him to produce high-quality coffee without using any artificial stimulants or flavorsings whatsoever! This patent marked a major milestone for coffee production and it helped makeGVenable’s products some of the most popular in all of America! The success that GVenable’s company enjoyed during its early years only made him want to create even better products – so Johnvenages hired another inventor named Frank Bendixen to help develop new brewing methods that would give his coffees even greater flavor depth and strength! After several failed attempts at creating such perfect brewing techniques, Frank Bendixen finally succeeded in developing what we now know as drip brewing! This method allows brewers to use small amounts of water instead of constantly poured water while still producing high-quality espresso beans! During this time period there were several other notable businesses which competed against GVenables Coffee Company: Watson Brothers BrewingCompany (later known as Peet’s), Dutch Bros., etc.. However, none of these competitors could come close to replicating or surpassing the level of quality that GVenable’s company achieved throughout their entire history! In fact, one can even say thatGVenable’s legacy is largely responsible for kickstarting American craftsmanship when it cameto espresso drinking!!

The first coffee shop in Lansing, Illinois was The Gilded Cage Coffee House, which opened on Jarvis Avenue in 1892. The business was owned and operated by John C. Healey. In 1896, the Healey family sold the business to S.W. Eaton and Company of Detroit, Michigan. Eaton renamed the business The West Side Coffee House after moving it to West Side Avenue in 1899. In 1912, Wm. Biddle & Sons bought out Eaton's ownership and the business reverted back to its original name of The Gilded Cage Coffee House. From 1914 until 1978, The Gilded Cage was located at 511 Michigan Ave., across from State University ofMichigan's Morrill Hall campus (now known as Midwestern University). In 1978, The Gilded Cage moved to its current location at 1101 W Snyder Rd., just east of Lansing's downtown core. It remained here until 2003 when it was acquired by a new owner and retired from operations for several years due to financial difficulties. However, in 2006 it reopened under new management under the name "Lansing Cafe". In 2015-2016 it ran into another financial difficulty after being closed for a year due to renovations that included gutting all of its old walls and reopening with much lower quality coffee than before- however it has since been able to restart proper operation with better quality beans again
Lansing, Illinois is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Isabella County. The population was 30,564 as of the 2010 census. It is the third-largest city in Michigan and the seventh-largest city in Illinois. Lansing is home to two campuses of The University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University, Lansing State Community College, and Ilsley Gardens public park. Lansing was founded on July 4, 1837 by Major Genesee Hudson as a fur trading post on Grand River between what are now Lansing Township (north) and Ottawa Township (south). The name originated from French "l'ancienne ville de la Grange" or "Old City of Farmington", which was located along Thomson Road about north of present day Hastings Avenue in what is now east Lansing Township. In 1849, when it became part of the new United States territory acquired by Mexico after its war with Great Britain, Lansing became an important commercial center due to its location at the mouth of the Penobscot River where goods could be transported into northern Mexico for sale. By 1860, it had become one of America's largest manufacturing cities due to advances made in engineering during the Civil War including construction of major railroads that linked Detroit with Chicago and other points southward. In 1865–66, following World War II's devastation throughout much Midwest America by firestorms generated by air raids over Japan during World War II (), Lansing seceded from Michigan to form its own right-to-work state within American Union; this event is commemorated annually through a parade through downtown Lansingfeaturing floats depicting scenes from history (). The first espresso machine was made in Italy in 1810 by Ettore Ferrara. Coffee became popular throughout Europe after Napoleon Bonaparte set up his commandos to capture Constantinople in 1804. He needed funds for his army so he taxed tea sales which caused many businessmen to invest in coffee plantations across India and Africa. After Napoleonic Wars ended, Belgium got control over Indonesia while Turkey took control over much of Syria-Lebanon-Syria-iuma respectively which led to increased smuggling activities through Anatolia region into Europe as well as higher prices for European beans due to high transportation costs from eastern Turkey across Anatolia mountains into European markets during this time period (Kleinbruch). In 1909, Italian espresso machines became available at a lower price than their European counterparts because they were made domestically by Guarani brothers who immigrated from Brazil (Flaminetti 1961). This change signaled a new era where quality international espresso machines could be bought at lower prices than domestic models (Henderson 1988). However, soon after World War II ended this trend reversed as cheaper foreign machines became available once again (Hefferty 1990). Since then various changes have occurred within the industry that have impacted both how beans are roasted and how consumers experience café espresso drinks: 1) technological advances – specifically regarding temperature regulation; 2) globalization of production; 3) interest in developing countries’ commodity crops such as cocoa; 4) shift away from ‘Old World’ brewing methods towards stainless steel technology; 5) introduction of ‘multi- Brewing Technology’ systems which allow brewers greater flexibility when designing recipes; 6) increasing focus on craft brews such as stouts/ Porterbeer etc.; 7) development of roasting chambers specific for high quality bean material thereby maximizing flavor expression without sacrificing aroma or bitterness levels
