Lake Zurich is a small city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 24,711 at the 2010 census. By 1860, voters had approved $165,000 in bonds to construct a wharf and water tower to serve downtown's needs; this marked the beginning of rapid growth for Lake Zurich which soon became known as "The City on the Water". With over 100 businesses opening up during that decade including two banks (Citizens National Bank & First National Bank), five hotels (the Hotel de Ville (now Marriott)), four manufacturing plants (Erie Brass Works plant & Brush Electric Company plant), thirteen churches (First Baptist Church being built first), twenty-six schools (eight high school operated by private institutions while twelve were public schools) and ninety-two residences such as Mrs. Wright's residence now known as 111 North State Street were constructed or erected along with numerous commercial buildings such as Armour & Co., Shayman Machine Shop, Jardine Piano Factory etc.; all within walking distance of each other making Lake Zurich one ofnorthwesterns largest cities until surpassed only by Detroit Michigan during Prohibition years 1920-1933 In 1865 when Union General Ulysses S Grant arrived at Cairo Illinois he found General David Dixon leading Confederate troops into Neglected Township just south of present day Addison Park asking them to surrender their arms because they could not find any stores or ammunition either east or west of Cairo; Dixon refused even though Grant ordered him to do so; Dixon Raiding party discovered several hundred rifle barrels cached near modern day Wrigley Field which led to his impeachment proceedings later that year In 1868 when Samuel Morse established Northwestern Telephone Company here he wired new towns like Buffalo New York and Scranton PA using copper wire laid down from Lake Erie via Canandaigua NY vernacular saying "Bellville I hear your voice" meaning we have reached you vernacular still used today especially among those who remain connected through technology . Lake Zurich, Illinois is a town in St. Clair County, Illinois, United States. The population was 940 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Lake Zurich were French explorers in 1671. In 1795, the United States Congress passed a bill creating the county of St. Clair out of parts of Cook and Kane counties. The village of Geneva was chartered by this act and became the county seat. In 1802, Samuel Latham bought 160 acres (65 hectares) of land on the east side of lake from John Forster for $500 cash or $10 per acre payable over 10 years. This tract became known as "Latham's Prairie". Latham's farmstead still stands today on that site north of Geneva Boulevard and west of Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago. In 1825, another American entrepreneur named Isaac Pabst founded an agricultural company called Pabst & Haas which operated some 1,200 acres (490 hectares) near Geneva between Georgetown Road and State Street on the south shore of Lake Zurich; it remains one-fourth its present size today). Pabst also built what is now known as Peoria Park on his land southwest of Geneva Boulevard and east off Michigan Avenue in what is now Downtown Chicago - one mile (1 kilometer) from current day Soldier Field stadium! The town plat was filed with local government officials on November 6, 1851 as "Lake Zurich", but no effort was made to rename it after George Washington because there had been no U.S president named George Washington until February 14th, 1865 when Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated as Ulysses S Grant's Vice President! On October 15th 1860 during a special election to fill a vacancy caused by Abraham Lincoln's death due to natural causes Lake Zurich residents voted 2-1–George Stephenson (Ulysses S.) being elected instead! Eighteen years later when organized township government began under state law George Stephenson delegated all township functions including Township Hall management to Aurora Township trustees effective March 13th 1870!! By 1907 Aurora had become so large they petitioned for incorporation into their larger sister city Dearborn Heights but that request too went unanswered!!! In 1916 Aurora annexed neighboring unincorporated territory making themselves a full township ready for incorporation into their larger sister city but that request too failed!!! It wasn't until 1945 when Village Green Farms Inc., incorporated by ordinance #45-564 became Municipality No.: 4 within City Limits #5 which then annexes surrounding villages straddling Wicker Park River including Logan Square/Reed District located just northwestof Cicero Avenue right before Armoury Road and Mathers Road with heavy industry development taking place along Armoury Road adjacent to Wacker Drive
