Founded in 1978 by two entrepreneurs, Bob and Barb McClendon, the first Lake In The Hills café was a popular spot for locals and visitors to enjoy fresh- roasted beans from around the world. Today, the café offers a wide range of espresso drinks and pastries, as well as its own line of coffee capsules and iced drinks.
Lake In The Hills, Illinois is a long and narrow body of water located in eastern Cook County, Illinois. It was formed by the melting of glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age. The name “In The Hills” comes from an early settler’s description of the area as being “hills so high and so white that they seem to have been made out of snow.” The first people to live in this area were the Sauk and Potawatomi Nation. They hunted game and fished in the lake for centuries before creating a village on its shores. In 1824, General David Dixon founded Dixonville on what is now White Road about south of where Lake In The Hills now stands. This town served as a trading post and transportation center for goods traveling between Chicago and other parts of Illinois. After years of growth, Dixonville declined in popularity after it became surrounded by new settlements on both sides of the river. In 1841, John Stephenson arrived in what is now Lake In The Hills with his family from Vermont. He began farming around present day Geneva Street near where he built his house today. Stephenson soon realized that he had found an ideal location for a community because it was close to but also separate from other villages in the area. He named his new settlement Stevensonville after himself and started building homes there soon after arriving. By 1846, Stevensonville had become one of the most important towns in all of Cook County because it hosted a large number of social events such as dances, potlucks, church services, etc., which helped keep people together during difficult times. However, Stevensonville quickly fell victim to economic decline due to factors such as lack thereof industry or transportation capabilities within easy reach for many residents (although he did build a steamboat dock). By 1851, Stevensonville had lost most if not all its residents when Iowa Territory was created; however, some held onto their residences until shortly before their deaths due to continued interest in living close enough to attend local events but far enough away from city life to maintain their privacy (similarly how current day residents still maintain some distance between themselves and non-residential areas). During this time period also saw significant changes take place within Cook County itself; specifically with regard to demographics which would later influence politics within that county over time… Finally after several decades without any major population growth or change Old Town Stevensonvilie largely declined into obscurity until well into the 21st century when it experienced another resurgence thanks largely to charitable donations from former residents who decided that their childhood home should be preserved as part Of A Historic District And Became One Of America's Most Famous Neighborhoods

Lake In The Hills was a census-designated place (CDP) in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The CDP is named for Sallie Mae Lake, who donated land to the city of Chicago for a park in 1922. Lake In The Hills was laid out and platted in 1892 by Jno. Pemberton and others as "In The Hills". It became a village in 1903 and an incorporated town in 1907. A post office called In The Hills was established in 1893, but discontinued operations in 1901.
Lake In The Hills was created by the Chicago and Northwestern Railway in 1892. The railroad built a line from Park Ridge to Portage Road, then continued west to Lake In The Hills. The original town of In The Hills was located on the east side of the lake.
