Since the end of World War II, there has been an increase in military deployments to various locations around the world. This change in deployment patterns has resulted in unique gift history between Lake Forest and some of the countries that have deployed troops. The first military deployment to Lake Forest took place during World War II when America was allied with the Soviet Union. American troops were stationed at Fort Sheridan on Chicagoland’s north side for two years. During this time, American soldiers brought back a wide variety of gifts such as radios, books, and clothing. The fort also locals donated many pieces of art and furniture to be stored at the community center until it could be moved to its new location. After the war ended, America resumed their alliance with Russia and America's forces were again stationed at Fort Sheridan on Chicagoland’s north side from 1946-1948. During this time period, local residents donated items such as kitchen equipment and appliances to help keep Soldiers entertained while they ate their meals outside or inside their tents during battle field exercises. In 1952, America returned home from Operation Desert Shield which involved invading Saudi Arabia. As part of this operation, gifts were sent back and forth between Chicago and Riyadh including blankets, hats, sunglasses, vacuum cleaners (for cleaning up dog messes), candy bars (for children), T-shirts (for soldiers who worked in Riyadh), cars (used by drivers who took Americans shopping for groceries while they were en route back home), cooking utensils (such as skillets and pots), cups/kettles/vessels (made from aluminum) for soup kitchens set up along I-90 near downtown Chicago, a model T Ford owned by General Motors Corporation owner George Halas which was given to Mayor Richard Jaffe on behalf of Lieutenant Colonel John Fetterman commanding US First Cavalry Regiment(USCIR)during Operation Just Cause - May 20-25th 1990 This is just a small sampling of what civilians donated during these deployments; each act helped contribute to one another in some way shape or form over time. Each individual donation gave something different back home but all together they created an amazing collection that can still be seen today at the community center next door where locals gather every month for coffee breaks or walk through its galleries filled with artifacts from throughout American Military History!

Lake Forest was once a small, unknown town in Illinois. However, over the years, it has become one of the most well-known and thriving communities in the state. Additionally, it is home to many businesses which contribute to its vibrancy and success such as Apple Inc., PepsiCo., McDonalds restaurants (which are still located in town), Intel Corporation (the largest employer within town limits), Boeing Co., Schlumberger AG (a drilling company) – all of which maintain a significant presence on Main Street throughout the year!
Lake Forest, Illinois was one of the original forty-eight United States towns. It was organized on November 16, 1809 from the eastern part of Danville Township. The town center was located on what is now State Street and Elmhurst Avenue. The first post office in Lake Forest was established on December 1, 1810. In 1815, a gristmill and sawmill were built; both remain in operation today. On October 12, 1827, a schoolhouse and meeting house were built in Lake Forest by Reverend John Sargent. The first mayor of Lake Forest was Ezra Stiles. On September 11, 1830, the first railroad track crossed through the town from Danville to Lombard (now Westmont). This opened up new opportunities for businesses and ranchers inLakeForest. By 1840, there were nine stores in town and three mills; two of which still operate today.
