The museum was founded in 1984 by Captain Tom Haggerty and First Lieutenant Rick Hecht. Today, the museum has a collection of over 6,000 items that include uniforms, medals, items from combat missions, and more. One of the most well-known Marines who has donated his life to protect our nation is Sergeant First Class Leroy Jethro Gibbs III. Sergeant Gibbs was born on October 15th, 1963 in New Orleans, Louisiana. When he was just 18 years old he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served as an infantryman with Company G at Camp Pendleton in California before deploying to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. After returning from Iraq, Sergeant Gibbs resumed his studies at US Naval War College where he graduated with honors in 2006. In2007 Lt. Colonel David Smith nominated Sergeant Gibbs for the Medal of Honor which he received on December 9th 2007. In addition to his military service there are numerous otherributes that have been given to Sergeant Gibbs including a scholarship at Tulane University and an award from Food Lion Incorporated which recognized him for excellence in customer service. On July 11th 2013 Sgt.(First Class) Leroy Jethro Gibbs III died after being injured while serving as part of Operation Neptune's Spear II during Afghanistan's Battle of Kandahar Province. He was 37 years old!

Kankakee, Illinois is a town located in DuPage County, Illinois. The population was 10,030 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat for DuPage County. The Kankakee village was founded in 1836 by General David Dixon and his wife Elizabeth Bogan Dixon. The original village was on the present site of Kankakee Mills. In 1857, the village moved to its present location on the east side of Kankakee River. Kankakee is one of five towns inDuPage County that are designated as "Villages". The other four villages are Skokie, Winnetka, Evanston and Chicago Heights. Village residents vote together as a body to make decisions about all matters affecting their community including school boards and zoning ordinances. Kankakee Mill was a large flour mill built in 1856 by John Auld and his brother-in-law James Pogue at what is now Kankakee Mills Drive and State Street. It continued operation until it closed in 1922 due to competition from larger mills south of Chicago.

Kankakee is a small city in the west side of Illinois, United States. The population was 25,975 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what is now Kankakee was John Kinzie in 1814. He and his family founded a trading post on the confluence of the Kankakee and Rock rivers. The post served as a base for fur traders traveling through this region, and provided access to buffalo herds that were abundant near Lake Michigan. In 1821, John Kinzie's son-in-law, Nathan Hale, established an agricultural village called Prospect Heights on land he had bought from Potawatomi chief Big Fish after their final battle at White Fort on November 5th of that year. As development increased around Prospect Heights, new settlers began arriving from all over Illinois; by 1830 there were about 350 people living there. In 1832 Kane County was organized out of Cook County and Prospect Heights became part of it; however, most residents continued to maintain their own homes and businesses until shortly before World War II when they came under military jurisdiction because of wartime production goals at nearby J&J munitions plants. After V-E Day in 1945 many families moved away from J&J sites due to environmental damage caused by blastoishers employed during construction work; however, some continue to live in Kankakee today as retirees or localvisitors. Although agriculture played an important role early on in Kankakee's history (a crop such as corn was grown using traditional methods), industry soon emerged as the most significant force here; meatpacking companies such as Armour and Swift beginning operations around 1920 brought jobs onto town streets while also creating schools and other public services needed for postwar growth: paving roads became common after 1922 when one company installed streetlights throughout town center; electric lights arrived locally only after 1945). By 1950 nearly two-thirds of all workers here were associated with manufacturing industries – including more than half those employed in clothing processing plants (the industry peaked nationally during this period but slowly declined thereafter). Kankakee, Illinois is a town in western Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 33,471 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from the Siouan word "kankakee" meaning "a small stream". The first settlement in what is now Kankakee was made by early European explorers and traders on May 1, 1781 when Captain John Smith and his men traveled down the Kankakee River. They arrived at what is now the village of West Point on January 10, 1782. At that time all of present day Cook County belonged to France. On July 6, 1804, Congress passed an act creating a new county named for General James Kaskaskia after he won an engagement against the British at Ottawa Heights near modern-day Chicago. In 1815 President James Kapp announced plans to build a canal through central Illinois which would connect Lake Michigan with Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. This canal became known as the Erie Canal and was completed in 1830. Kankakee's growth began slow due to its location between two major waterways which limited trade and transportation opportunities until railroads came along in the late 19th century. By 1880 nearly every family had their own cottage or farmstead within walking distance of their respective businesses or homes – this contributed greatly to village development over ensuing decades! It wasn’t until after World War II that things really started picking up for Kankakee as many people came back into our community looking for jobs during Konjunktur (the postwar period). After Morningside Park opened up just south of downtown in 1950 everything changed with nearby Southfield becoming a bedroom community filled with executives from companies such as IBM etc.; this has continued even today with Southfield making it one of IL’s most rapidly gentrifying neighbourhoods! As things stand right now there are still quite a few working Class families living close by but more and more middle class professionals are moving into town as well; so there is always something happening here!
