The first coffee beans were grown in Huntley in 1853 by George Beecher and his brother Ezra Beecher. In 1870, John Cockerill started roasting coffee beans on his property near Huntley. In 1887, Harry Wirth bought land adjacent to Cockerill's property and started growing coffeebeans there as well. By 1915, Huntley had become one of the leading producers of high-quality coffee in the Midwest. In 1965, Huntley became home to the Hartland Coffee Company which was founded by Elmer Hartman and his wife Clara PrenticeHartman. The company produces over 60 different types of roasted coffee products including espresso cups and filters for retail customers around the United States as well as export sales worldwide. In 2006, HCC merged with two other small companies - Brick & Mortar Coffee Roasters Incorporated (Brick) and Peet's Coffee Corporation (Peet) - forming what is now known as Starbucks Corporation.Starbucks Corporation has been headquartered in downtown Seattle since 1977. Huntley is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,055 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield–Peoria metropolitan area. Huntley's ZIP code is 61834. The land that became Huntley was first settled by German immigrants in 1836. A post office called Huntley was established in 1839, and the town was named for Colonel John Fenton Hunt (1792-1868), an American Revolutionary War general and judge who served on the bench of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Huntley's original buildings were built between 1840 and 1845 by Ebenezer Farnsworth, a Quaker businessman who had come to Illinois from Rhode Island. Farnsworth designed many of Huntley's distinctive nineteenth century architecture—most notably its three-story stone courthouse and jail which still stands today. In 1871, after years of debate over whether to incorporated as a village or remain unincorporated, Huntley voted to become a municipality under the advice of then-Mayor William Wimmert. The vote was accepted by both the state legislature and local residents; however, incorporation did not take hold until 1886 because there were several questions about how best to administer municipal government with only 1,055 residents. During World War II (1939-1945), Huntleys saw some heavy fighting around their small town; however, most activities center around agricultural production and tourism; nevertheless, on September 2nd 1945 an airplane carrying General Dwight D Eisenhower crashed into the community leaving over 100 people dead including most of the town's inhabitants when it exploded within minutes over open field Adventurewood Cemetery just outside town limits killing all aboard except two children playing nearby without being harmed Today much has changed for Huntleys since those dark days ninety five years ago when General Ike crashed into our small community causing so much loss both human life and physical infrastructure with memories still fresh long after everyone gone but we have faced worse times before thru tough times have come through

Huntley, Illinois is a small town located in Sangamon County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from a large body of water near its center which was once known as Huntley's Prairie. Huntley is one of the few towns in Sangamon County that still retains much of its original architecture and infrastructure from the 1800s. Huntley was founded by James H. Hunt in 1871 as a small farmstead on the banks of the Kankakee River. At first, Hunt used his land to raise corn and hay for his horse and wagon families who transported goods to Chicago. By 1881, Hunt had developed an unsuccessful business doing night watchman service for farmers in nearby Madisonville and decided to move his operation to what is now downtown Huntley. In 1886, James H. Hunt Jr., brother of James H. Hunt Sr., opened what is now called The Best Store in America inside what is now the Park District library building on Main Street (later replaced by the current library). From this store, Huntleys began selling their products direct to consumers through mail order and even set up shop inside local schools during brief periods when school services were available outside of hours. In 1928-29, JH3 donated $50K towards construction of new civic hall which later served as village hall before being destroyed by fire in 2002-03; however, plans are underway to rebuild it into a museum dedicated to local history The post office closed effective January 1st 1957 due to low mail volume; however letters continued being delivered until May 15th 1957 after which no more shipments could be sent because there was not enough space available at Postmaster General’s office In 1952-53 two brothers - Homer Gentry and Prentice Gentry - started an ice cream parlor called cones 'Noodle House'. They sold ice cream via truck from their home on Elm Street across from Central High School In 1956-57 four women - Teresa Knighten (1948-2001), Karen O’Malley (1949-2013), Judy Ladd (born 1950) and Barbgall Crouse (born 1951) - started lending their names meaning anything between "house" or "cards" with each woman contributing $5 worth of ice cream per hour they worked at cone shop until 1978 when all profits went back into funding operations On November 14th 1959 several hundred people turned out for Battle Creek Day parade uniting all Southeastern Illinois communities against Jim Crow laws In 1961 Village idiot act passed by Sangamon County board stating that any person found behaving like an idiot within Village limits would be subject to arrest without warrant or indictment; this proclamation ledto many jokes about village idiots throughout decades but did not leadto any prosecutions
