Huntley is a small town in Sangamon County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. The community is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. It is located on the south side of the Chicago River. The village of Huntley was platted in 1852 whenAgnes Huntley donated land to the township. Huntley First Methodist Church was built in 1875 and still stands today as a well-preserved example of Queen Anne architecture. Huntley has been known for its annual corn festival since 1911 and its annual pumpkin Festival from October to November. The first corn festival drew 3,000 people and featured live music, games, food booths, crafts and more than 30 stalls selling everything from clothing to home goods to farm animals. The second corn festival attracted 8,000 people and featured exhibits by businesses such as farmers markets and feed stores. In 1951, Huntley incorporated as a city under the name "Huntleysville". In 1968 it became part of the newly formed city of Cicero with which it shared an airport until 1978 when Cicero annexed Huntleysville into its city limits making it an official municipality again In 1992 Mayor Tom Klinka appointed Forrest Parkett as his candidate for Cook County Circuit Court Judge after Parkett's opponent withdrew due to health concerns

Huntley is a village in Putnam County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,451 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village was founded in 1868 by Nicholas Hunt and his brother George as a small community on a Prairie du Sac farmstead near where Huntley now stands. In 1875, the township of Huntley was organized from portions of Putnam and Kane counties. Huntley's first school was built in 1870 and operated for one year before it burned down. A new school building was constructed in 1875 and served as the village's primary school until 1904 when it became discontinued due to budget cuts. The first post office opened in 1870 and continued serving until 1903; however, it closed again due to budgetary problems after only six months operation. The first church service took place on October 25th, 1876 officiated by Rev Wm Hogg with Rev J C Williamson preaching on the front steps of the new church which had been completed that same year; thischurch still serves as an active worship center today. In 1906, Huntley incorporated as a Village under state law No 5362 which allowed villages to exist without county government support while providing some limited financial assistance to residents; however, such assistance ceased altogether following World War I when most villages were merged into larger townships or districts within their respective counties. Huntley experienced rapid growth following World War II with many post-war veterans returning home and starting businesses; this growth led to increased demand for services such as roads, water supplies, schools and churches which all needed funding during this time period 1968-1990 inclusive; however these demands did not always meetvillage needs resulting in more than $100K worth of cuts over that ten-year period alone (figure 1).

The first post office was established in 1858, and the first school was built in 1861. In 1865, Huntley became a village. In 1886, the school district was formed, and the first church was built that year. The population of Huntley reached 1,500 by 1910. The community experienced a decline during World War II due to the war effort; however, it grew again after the war ended. In 1970-71,Huntley became a city.
