The Coast Guard Auxiliary in Huntley, Illinois was founded on February 17, 1921. The first Coast Guard Auxiliary station opened in Huntley on a parcel of land donated by the citizens of Huntley. The name of the original station was “New Station No. 1” and it served as a base for the Auxiliary’s training and practice operations. In 1951, a new Coast Guard Auxiliary Station was built at what is now known as West Side Hall in Hope Township. This station became home to both the auxiliary’s Headquarters Department and its Training School for officers and men. It also served as headquarters for the local Reserve units until 1978 when they were transferred to Rock Island County. On May 20, 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed into law H.R. 2163 which authorized the creation of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Foundation to provide financial assistance to coast guard auxiliary stations throughout America. The foundation has since helped support over 200 coast guard auxiliary stations across America with funds totaling more than $24 million dollars! Today, there are over 5,000 active members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary who help keep our community safe by performing tasks such as rescuing people in distress or providing security during events like Memorial Day or Christmas Eve!

Huntley is a small town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Huntley is one of the few communities in Illinois without a college or university presence. The first settler in Huntley Township was Daniel Burch and his family who arrived on October 6, 1827. A post office was established at Huntley on October 26, 1839, and remained open until it closed on July 14, 1951. The first schoolmaster in Huntley Township was John Wittell who taught from 1835 to 1840. Huntley had its first grocery store opened by Mr. & Mrs. Henson on Main Street in 1947. The store continued to be run by the Henson's until 1961 when it became JB Bachman's Grocery which continues to operate as of 2018 In 1963, Huntley got its own high school when Glenbard High School moved from Lombard to Huntley (itself only 3 miles away). Glenbard continue as one of four high schools that make up McHenry County public schools; however since 2007-2011 Glenbard has been operated by Aurora-based Northwest Side Community Schools District #2 which also operates Loyola UniversityChicago (local campus) and two other high schools - Hubbardston Avenue Upper HS and Lincoln HS - making it an alternative education option for students living too far away for traditional public school options
