According to the 2010 census, the population of Homewood was 72,811. The racial makeup of this community is 91% White, 1% African American, 2% Native American, and 8% from other races. The median household income in this community is $55,704. Homewood is a small town located about 20 miles west of Chicago on I-95. It was founded in 1836 by John and Anna Ladd as an agricultural village on the banks of the Fox River. By 1860, it had a population of only 100 residents. In 1870, Homewood became a railroad stop on the Illinois Central Railroad. The first store in Homewood was built in 1872 by Jno Wirthman and his brother Jacob Wirthman. In 1875, Henery & Beattie Bros., merchants began selling groceries at the then new store building (later renamed First National Bank). In 1886, Jno & Eliza Kapp started operating another grocery store at 412 S Prairie Ave., which would become one of the most important businesses in Homewood until it closed its doors in 1991. From 1888-1892 Alfred Prentice operated an ice cream parlor at 524 N Prairie Ave., which is still open today and serves as a museum with exhibits about local history and agriculture dating back to that time period. In 1893-1894 Methodist Episcopal Church constructed two churches: One for adults (First Presbyterian) and one for children (Methodist). A post office was established at Homewood in 1895; it continued to operate until 1923 when it moved to McHenry County.

In recent years Gifts have also become an important part of Marine deployment culture with particular focus on Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) where Weapons surplus items like shotguns, pistols, rifles and ammunition were distributed among service members along with sporting goods such as fishing rods, golf clubs and beach balls just prior to combat operations against IEDs ( Improvised Explosive Devices ). Often times Marines will travel far away from home for months at a time without ever expecting them to receive anything tangible but rather a smile from someone who cares about them!

Homewood is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1836 by Samuel Homewood and his family as a small village on the north side of Cook County. In 1845-1846, it became an incorporated community under the name of Plainfield. On December 15, 1915, Plainfield merged with Homewood to form a new municipality called Homewood-Plainfield. The merger was approved by voters on November 3, 1916. The first post office in Homewood opened on February 14, 1837; it closed on July 13, 1865 because of the American Civil War龙战役。 A new post office opened on October 8, 1865 and continued operation until it was discontinued on January 5th 1870 due to lack of mail volume. On May 17th 1890 residents voted to incorporate as a village and take their name from Plainfield which had been incorporated two years earlier into what would become Cook County unsigned territory along with unincorporated areas of Livingston Township (now Irving Park) and Oak Lawn township (now West Side). In 1904 homesteaders founded Glenview Terrace campground east of town near Glenview Lake just south of Interstate 80 across from State Fairgrounds; this site remains today within boundaries of Homewood.
The town of Homewood was founded in 1836 by Captain James K. Polk and his wife, Sarah Beecher Polk. The town was named for the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Witherspoon, who donated land to the town for a public square. The first post office in Homewood opened in 1840. In 1853, the name of the town was changed to its present spelling,Homewood
