On October 15th of that same year Second Tactical Fighter Wing (2nd TFW) arrived at Homewood Municipal Airport and became operational under First TFW’s command when all remaining fighter squadrons were reassigned from Ninth Artillery Group to become part of 2nd Aerospace Division stationed hereunder. This division provided aerial refueling and airlift capabilities for units operating throughout Southeast Asia performing combat operations against enemy fighters and bombers as well as ground units engaged in support operations such as firefights or peacekeeping missions across many different conflict zones including Laos-Thailand- Cambodia- Indonesia- Philippines- Malaysia etc.. In 1814, surveyors decided that it would be a good place to settle because of its strategic location between Chicago and Springfield. The first lots were sold in 1816 and by 1821, most of the town had been built. A post office was established in 1827 and soon became one of the leading centres for mail delivery in southern Illinois. In 1830, Amos White founded White & Company which ran a sawmill and gristmill on Canfield Road until 1862 when it merged with other mills operated by John Stephenson to form Stephenson Manufacturing Company which continued to run the mills until 1984 when they were sold to Peachtree Industries Incorporated In 1914-15 more than 1,000 residents of Park Ridge moved into Homewood from Park Ridge South (now Bridgeview) because of World War I munitions production at Du Pont Corporation's River Rouge Plant east of downtown Chicago; this largest single move in Homewood's history occurred during that war period. Most residents returned home within two years after Pearl Harbor but some remained for another decade or so as factory workers or soldiers on leave from military service in Europe . The Council on American-Islamic Relations has estimated that up to 100 Somali Americans lived in Homewood pre-9/11 before moving out due to security concerns following the attacks A new high school campus was opened north of DeKalb Avenue and south of Addison Road in 1990 as part of plans to redevelop an entire parkland area including much valuable land used by local businesses for defense purposes since 1919
