The origins of Tactical Coffee can be traced back to Harry’s Coffee House, a small café located on North Side Drive in the town of Hickory Hills. Harry’s Coffee House was started by Harry Smith in 1921. At that time, Tactical Coffee was simply called “Harry’s coffee.” The popularity of Tactical Coffee may have been due to its unique blend of flavors and its ability to provide a refreshing drink after a long day of work or study. In fact, many people who frequented Harry’s Coffee House began using it as their go-to coffee shop when they discovered that other cafés did not have his unique flavor profile. In 1924, Harry Smith passed away and his son Larry took over the business. Larry soon became known for his high-quality coffee beans and pour-overs, which carried on the father’s legacy of providing top-notch coffee experiences for customers throughout the years. In 1955, Larry Smith passed away again and his son Tim succeeded him as owner and operator of Harry's Coffee House. During the late 1990s and 2000s, tactical coffee fans from around the world enjoyed sampling Tim Smith's amazing brew at various events across America (including our own Annual World Cup Trophy cup). However, it was during 2007 when Tim decided to close up shop permanently due to family health issues; however, all evidence suggests that he never truly stopped brewing great coffee!
